Set on a large ranch in rural upstate New York, it’s early days for the eccentric group of people who call themselves “The Zeta Family” - quite possibly the next big cult phenomenon.

Katie (Amy Goodmurphy), our central protagonist, is an aspiring reporter who has decided to infiltrate the compound, and her future success as a journalist depends entirely on her ability to win the confidence of Zeta Doug (Kevin Nealon), the likable spiritual leader of the group.

He’s like a cross between Hunter S. Thompson and George R. R. Martin, with a little too much sci-fi in his head and acid in his blood stream. Like all good cult leaders, Doug is elusive and mysterious, and Katie quickly begins to wonder if this cult is truly just a gnarly collection of weirdos hanging out in the woods, or is there something else going on here?

Really enjoyed listening through this.

Battle bruised from real life I wasnt quite ready to jump right into books and podcasts about cults ... step up THE ZETA FAMILY a mockumentary about an independent journalist who infiltrates a fictional cult...

I really enjoyed it, it's lighthearted, funny and delivered in an undemanding 14x15 minute episodes... you will need headphones if there are kids about as theres a bit of language.

It features Natasha Lyonne who I could listen to all day and has the refreshing signature of a female writer who builds characters based on relationships that, albeit comedic and not 'realistic', make sense and at least some of whom you will relate to 😂

And of course. This podcast is free for audible subscribers, so give it a go :) a nice bit of harmless escapism.

Honestly, out of all the audiobooks/podcasts I've listened to, this was the best one. Absolutely hilarious and narrated so well (i mean Natasha freakin Lyonne!!), the story was written so well, give it a listen!!!
