  • The Hold Nobody Calls: There Is Holding on Every Play
    20 Oct 2026

About fifteen hundred flights a day were receiving a counterfeit satellite navigation signal — not jammed, not missing, counterfeit. Earlier that same year the number was around three hundred.

And nothing has been shot down. Not in Ukraine, not in the Middle East, not anywhere. The war is already running.

    In this episode:

    • Why there is holding on every play, and why that is not the point
    • The difference between jamming and spoofing, and why one of them reports nothing
    • Why deniability is the design specification rather than a side effect
    • Two credentialed positions at full strength — and a dispute about the word "dogfighting"
    • The American jammer accepted for operational use in June, and the 158% budget line
    • Six months of a Chinese refuelling operation watched by two commercial companies and no government

Clyde's Question: are we the one getting held, or one of the people with a hand inside?

The Film Room: a day two call partially overturned — the gap was in the wrong place.

Plus One More Thing from Second Kings 6, and a king who suspected his own council.

Day ten of twelve on the Space Edition.

  • Building a Program: You Cannot Tell the Builder From the Man Who Is Four and Six
    19 Oct 2026

Two Chinese missions slipped this year. In August, Chang'e-7 — the flagship lunar south pole prospector — no longer met the conditions for its launch window, with no official cause given and no new date. And Mengzhou-1, the first orbital flight of the crew spacecraft meant to carry taikonauts to the Moon, moved from this year to 2027.

That goes at the top, because today is the day the series is supposed to tell you China is a machine.

    In this episode:

    • The coach who builds a program, and why you can't identify him in year two
    • The record in three piles — what has flown, what is in test, what is only stated
    • A relay placed beyond the Moon before anything landed, and a booster landed at sea in July
    • Why opacity cuts both ways — and why that argument survives a weather map
    • Why reading an adversary as ten feet tall is its own expensive error

Clyde's Question: after nine days of refusing to be alarmist, has that become its own bias?

The Film Room: part of a day one call overturned.

Plus One More Thing from Proverbs 24, on the order of the field and the house — and a Watchman Anchor from Nehemiah 6 that deliberately does not resolve.

Day nine of twelve on the Space Edition.

  • The Whole Special Teams Unit: A Sentence Nobody Needed in 1975
    18 Oct 2026

Overnight on 13 October, a speed restriction took effect on the military satellite network Ukraine uses for battlefield communications. A speed limit on a satellite link is a limit on how fast a drone can be flying and still stay connected.

Nobody said who ordered it. The next day the chief executive of SpaceX posted that Starshield is owned and controlled by the US government. The day after that, Reuters sourced the order to inside the White House.

This episode reports those statements. It does not adjudicate them — because the clarification is the subject. A sentence establishing that a government rather than a chief executive controls a military communications network is not one anybody needed to say about a defence contractor in 1975.

    In this episode:

    • The kicker who was the whole special teams unit, and the Thursday he rolled an ankle
    • 65% of all active satellites, 82% of commercial launch, $22 billion in federal contracts
    • A securities filing that names national dependence as a financial fact
    • Why some restrictions on that network were built at Ukraine's own request
    • Why none of this was legislated — it was earned

Clyde's Question: is disclosure a remedy, or a thing people say so they can proceed anyway?

The Film Room: a call confirmed from an unexpected direction.

Plus One More Thing from First Samuel 8 — the manner of the king.

Nothing in this episode alleges wrongdoing by any person or company. It includes the most direct conflict disclosure in this series, read in full near the top.

Day eight of twelve on the Space Edition.
