In this bonus episode Benjamin Evans marks National Poetry Day with a nod to the English summer via his presentation of the rarely anthologised poem Cricket at Brighton by Alan Ross.

Rich in nostalgia and beautifully observed, the poem captures everything we associate with the ideal English summer: county cricket by the seaside, long afternoons in the sunshine, and a sense of time slowing down. Through his short exploration of this evocative piece, Benjamin reflects on the power of poetry to transport us, spark memories, and help us see the wonder in everyday moments.

A fitting choice for this year's National Poetry Day theme, Wonder, this episode is a celebration of poetry, cricket and the enduring magic of summers past.

Having worked in some of the world's most prestigious schools, Benjamin Evans, Headmaster of King's College, Taunton offers a reminder of the importance of great teachers. It has never been easier to be an efficient teacher, but it has perhaps never been harder to be inspirational. The ubiquity of technology promotes the former and often hampers the latter.

In this thought-provoking episode, he shares the story of a teacher who had a profound influence on him, not just on his English grade. He illustrates how great educators shape how young people think, learn and see the world around them.

When parents choose a school, they consider facilities, results, opportunities and reputation. Yet it is the day-to-day interaction within the classroom that the greatest difference is made.
