    5 Nov 2026
Did Your Success Break the Generational Pattern, or Just HIDE It?Former Goldman Sachs analyst Carrie Sheffield reveals why no amount of prestige can break generational trauma on its own. From childhood trauma to the four-month program that rewired her subconscious, she shares why forgiveness is a one-party decision.Carrie grew up in a motorhome, attended more than a dozen schools, and left home at 18, working as a Taco Bell janitor before earning a full scholarship to Harvard. She went on to manage municipal credit risk at Goldman Sachs, lead a $5 billion healthcare bond portfolio at Moody's, and serve as a founding reporter at POLITICO. In 2015 she founded Bold TV, later sold to an educational nonprofit, and today she is Director of the Center for AI and Technology at Independent Women and author of Motorhome Prophecies (Hachette).Carrie breaks down:◼️The two top-1% scores that explain why high achievers stay stuck◼️How to break a generational pattern your parents inherited from theirs◼️The counterfeit gods most founders worship, and what happens when one lays you off◼️How to tell when the company you founded has started running you◼️Why Covey's private victories have to come before the public ones◼️Why putting everyone else first is quietly breaking the golden rule◼️What seven years of silence and one microwaved dinner taught her about inheritanceFor anyone who built the life and is still carrying the pattern.Chapters:(00:00) Prophesied to Be Murdered If She Left. • “I Was Basically GI Jane” | Missionary, Developer, Aerial Founder | Britnie Faith Turner
    22 Oct 2026

At 17, Britnie Faith Turner had $18 in her bank account and was staring at a multi-billion-dollar problem. She concluded the missionary path couldn't fix it. Business could.

Most founders build the wealth, then go looking for a cause. Britnie ran it in reverse. Every company under Aerial Group exists to serve one mission, and her nonprofit, Aerial Recovery, deploys Special Forces veterans into disaster zones and anti-trafficking operations. Over 9,000 people rescued in under three years.

    Mindful Revitalization:
→ Pull the crime maps first. Buy the worst property on the block, even at a loss.
→ Remove the crime, then fix what people can see: trash, streetlights, paint.
→ Rebrand the neighborhood online. Buyers believe the headlines.

In Kenya, a mother of 13 sold her two-year-old to traffickers for $25 so she could buy a cow. Turner's team hadn't touched its six acres yet, but small businesses had already moved in around the site because Americans were developing there. That was the moment she decided strategic real estate could attack poverty at its root. She practiced on Nashville's roughest blocks first. The police told her she did more in two years than they had in twenty.

The eulogy she reads every day:
→ Write the story your soul is proud of, not one built to impress anyone.
→ Work backward: five years, one year, one quarter, 90 days.
→ Decide what to stop doing today.

After a certain number, the question shifts from how much to what for. Turner's answer is to run the mission like an operating company: cash-flowing assets, documented systems, measurable outcomes. $15,000 funds one veteran through a full year of the program.

    Books mentioned:
    - Think and Grow Rich (Napoleon Hill)
    - Outwitting the Devil (Napoleon Hill)
    - Envy: A Theory of Social Behavior (Helmut Schoeck)

For the founder who already has the capital and is still looking for the mission worth deploying it on.

  • Building a Legacy From a Self-Made Life | The Billion-Barrel Wildcatter | Will Ade
    1 Oct 2026

"You can leave multi-generational wealth to a cat. That is money. That is not wealth."

William C. Ade has found over a billion barrels of oil equivalent. He traces it to the day his father told him, at 14, that there would not be a farm for him.

He left corporate oil to wildcat Southeast Asia for a royalty instead of a salary. A dry hole paid him nothing. His longest royalty has now run 50 years.

    The Investment Game:
→ One gift to every heir old enough, every Christmas, sized to what the tax code permits without paperwork
→ One rule: they can invest, but they can't speculate
→ One prize for the best return, and it isn't cash

In the 1980s, rates were 20% and no bank would lend his father the money to plant. Will sold all his stocks and cashed in his pensions to buy the family farm. Then he kept buying on leverage at $1,000 an acre. A friend warned him prices were falling. They fell to $800, and he kept buying. Will now puts that land at roughly $15,000 an acre.

    The Cordelia Plan:
→ In King Lear, the king splits his kingdom among three daughters and disinherits the one who won't flatter him
→ In the final act, the honest daughter is the one who saves him
→ Will says he has three Cordelias. All three are honest and financially independent, and they live on what they earn

Will is generation four after all the money was gone. That's why he doesn't count money as the inheritance. What he passes down is the capital that rebuilds it. He says he could have turned his entire estate over to his daughters long ago, and it would probably have done better.

    Books mentioned:
→ It's Your Life. Don't Outsource It. (Will Ade), forthcoming
    → Pioneer (Will Ade)
→ George Ade's Common Sense Advice (George Ade, compiled by Will Ade)
→ The recovered plays of George Ade (George Ade)
    → King Lear (William Shakespeare)
→ A Tale of Two Cities (Charles Dickens)
→ A biography of the Hunt family
→ Biographies of John D. Rockefeller
→ The autobiography of J. Paul Getty
    → Harry Potter (J.K. Rowling)
    → The Bible (Luke 12:48)

For the founder who has already solved for money and is now solving for heirs.
