About this listen

Harper McKenzie wakes to the worse possible day: her 18-year-old son has vanished from her Manhattan apartment without trace.

Worse, no-one knows what she’s talking about.

No-one thinks she had a son.

Ever.

Has she lost her grip on reality?

Or has the world shifted in a terrifying and unpredictable way?

The Effect is a taut psychological thriller that challenges everything we thought was real, as Harper’s quest to find her son pushes her to the very edge of reason.

Absolutely love the story. Totally believable. And the amazing sound left me craving for more. Definitely my fav type of sci do, where the sci-go element doesn’t dominate the world building.
This week I was wondering if it’s possible at all to find a thriller without violence and dead bodies. I thought it wasn’t possible. This story is a proof that no dead bodies are required to make a thriller. Absolutely recommend it.

excellent narration. Slightly confused
story line initially. Unnecessary bad language which I don't appreciate

Panic!

Even though the story is quite predictable in some parts (as it's a concept explored in other shows) at the end you're wondering if there is going to be a 2nd season. The performance was really good and the audio effects worked really well to create that suspension.

Really enjoyed it. The acting was brilliant.

Narrated very well. Story was going great but kind of went a bit overboard towards the end and didn't like the ending. Was left wondering how things went.

Strange ending
