"We survived the trek. We did it! We're about a day late and three llamas short, but we made it off the Cordillera Blanca." One last unplanned climb, a dusty seven-mile descent, a taxi that (miraculously) shows up on time with no cell service in sight, and a well-earned pizza celebration in Huaraz before the long bus ride to Lima. Roughly 70 miles and nine days after Cashapampa, Tent Talk signs off.

The longest day of the trip: a walk past the Inca ruins at Ruina Pampa, a 2,000-foot climb, then a second summit with three or four false tops before the final push above 15,000 feet, the last elevation gain of the entire circuit. It ends after dark with no campsite in sight, until a park ranger's flashlight, and later his questions about their permits, leads them to a place to pitch the tent for the last time.
