A CANDID CONVERSATION WITH PANDULENI ITULA

What happens when a man shaped by the ruling movement decides that Namibia needs something different?

In this episode of Catalyst, Dr. Panduleni Itula takes us beyond the familiar headlines and into the experiences, people and convictions that have shaped his political journey.

He speaks candidly about those who inspired him, his vision for Namibia, leadership, democracy and the kind of country he believes we can build.

But at the heart of the conversation is a question that cannot be avoided:

If the IPC is led by people who emerged from SWAPO, what really sets it apart?

    Is it simply SWAPO reloaded?

Dr. Itula’s answer is clear: the rule of law.

From there, the conversation takes an unexpected turn — into the future of the ruling party and the existential threat he believes it faces.

This is more than a conversation about Dr. Itula or the IPC.

It is a conversation about Namibia’s political evolution, the quality of our democracy, the accountability of those who govern, and the choices that will shape our country’s future.

    Candid. Challenging. Thought-provoking.

Listen to the conversation. Then make up your own mind.

  • Making Beauty Out of What the World Left Behind | The Catalyst 005
    8 Oct 2026

Hey! I'd love to hear your thoughts, send me a voice note.

What does it mean to see the world differently, literally? In this episode of The Catalyst Podcast, our host Lazarus Jacobs sit down with Hage Mukwendje, one of Namibia’s most compelling visual artists, whose work has travelled from the dump sites of Windhoek to the World Health Organization in Geneva. Born in a rural village in northern Namibia and raised by his grandmother, Hage grew up herding cattle, creating toys from scratch, and finding beauty in things most people discard.

He is also colourblind. And yet his paintings, layered with recycled material, gold leaf, and a rawness that stops people cold, have found collectors in New York, Nigeria, and across Europe. His art doesn’t just hang on walls. It holds stories. Of identity, of colonial borders that split families in half, of what Africa lost and what it is quietly reclaiming.

This is a conversation about vulnerability, creativity, and the quiet power of telling your own story before someone else tells it for you.
