Shelby Perrien d**d on June 29, 2025, after suffering a gsw while riding in a vehicle with her husband, Jeremy Perrien, in Scott County, Missouri.
Jeremy initially told investigators Shelby’s injury was self-inflicted. But investigators later recovered evidence they say raised serious questions about that account, including a hidden video on Shelby’s phone, deleted messages, physical evidence from the vehicle, and bodycam observations documented in the probable-cause statement.
Jeremy Perrien was later charged with second-degree murder and other offenses. He has pleaded not guilty, and the allegations against him have not been proven at trial.
In this RFBB Case of the Week compilation, Dana and Chloe examine seven different rabbit holes surrounding the Shelby Perrien case, including Jeremy’s changing statements, the hidden phone video, deleted communications, questions surrounding the bodycam, his positions as fire chief, reserve sheriff’s deputy and assistant coroner, allegations sent to RFBB by people in the community, and broader questions about power and accountability in Scott County, Missouri.
We also discuss the reported change in the judge assigned to Jeremy Perrien’s case and explain which claims are documented, which come from firsthand sources, and which remain unverified.
This episode includes discussion of DV, alleged ab**e of power, law-enforcement accountability, court records, forensic evidence and victim advocacy.
