Jesus gave a parable about a Pharisee and a publican who go to the temple to pray. The Pharisee thanks God that he is so righteous while the publican won’t even lift up his eyes to heaven while he smites upon his breast and prays, “God be merciful to me a sinner”⁠. This episode is for those who struggle with sin or addiction who might be losing hope. The message is to keep choosing Jesus and never, never, never give up on your faith in Him!

Many people who decide that they no longer believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or no longer believe in the church’s truth claims regarding Joseph Smith want to leave the church but retain some of the doctrines or principles that they cherish. They want to become mainstream Christians but hang on to what makes sense to them or feels right about this life, their premortal life, the afterlife and the nature of God that came from Joseph Smith. This episode strips those plain and precious truths that were restored by Joseph Smith away to show a Latter-day Saint what they must believe in order to be considered a true Christian after leaving the church.

Jesus said in Luke 9:23-24, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me, For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it". We live in a society where self-indulgence and immediate gratification are prized over self-mastery. As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are instructed to put off the natural man and become a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord (Mosiah 3:19). To do this, we must deny ourselves of everything that is ungodly.
