  • Must Be 14 To Enter, Must Be 21 To Drink
    19 Oct 2026

April 28th at The Other Side brought another killer metal lineup.

    Chimaira.
    Diecast.
    36 Crazyfists.
    Nothing Permanent.
    Disjointed from Muskogee.

But the thing that gets everybody talking is the age restriction on the flyer.

Must be 14 to enter. Must be 21 to drink.

    Why 14?

    Why not 16 or 18?

The guys start questioning where that particular number came from, and the conversation turns to whether a parent had complained about one of the shows.

There is even some speculation that Randy, the owner, might have come up with the rule.

And of course, somebody points out that 14-year-olds have probably heard a few bad words before.

Meanwhile, the guys give some love to Diecast and Disjointed, remembering just how good those bands were.

    A great underground metal show.

    A strange age restriction.

And another piece of Oklahoma concert history from The Other Side.

  • Cross Canadian Ragweed & Texas Hippie Coalition Play Cain's Ballroom In 2008
    19 Oct 2026

Some venues are more than just places to play music.

Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa is one of them.

The conversation turns to Cross Canadian Ragweed, Texas Hippie Coalition, and the first time stepping inside the legendary Cain’s Ballroom.

At first, it was just another show on the schedule.

But then came the walk around the building.

    The pictures on the walls.

    The history.

Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys.

Suddenly, it became clear that this was not just another concert venue.

This was a room where legends had stood.

The kind of musicians whose names would still be remembered long after they were gone.

And that is what makes Cain’s Ballroom so special.

It is not just about playing a great show.

It is about becoming part of something bigger.

The guys talk about how musicians work their entire lives hoping their names and music will outlive them.

Max sums it up with one word.

    Longevity.

    Cross Canadian Ragweed.

    Texas Hippie Coalition.

    Cain’s Ballroom.

And a reminder that the greatest legacy in music is being remembered long after the final encore.

  • Davit Souders, Curley's, IKON 2.0, & The Hive
    18 Oct 2026

Davit Souders, Curley's, IKON 2.0, & The Hive

Oklahoma's underground music scene had some legendary venues, and this one went through several changes.

    May 11, 2006.

    The Hive.

But before it was The Hive, it was Curley's.

Then Davit Souders took over and turned it into IKON 2.0.

    That did not last long.

    Maybe six to nine months.

    Then it became The Hive.

The guys remember how Davit tried to bring back the magic of the original IKON, booking industrial acts and underground bands.

    But something was different.

The original IKON was a smaller room, several blocks away.

    IKON 2.0 was huge.

And as the guys explain, you do not book up-and-coming underground bands in a massive room.

You put them in a smaller club where the crowd and energy fit.

Davit also worked closely with Larry Schaefer, who helped provide a place for shows that were too big for IKON.

After IKON closed, Davit continued working with Larry at The Caves.

And according to the guys, Davit is still involved in the music business today.

    Curley's.

    IKON 2.0.

    The Hive.

Different names, different eras, and another piece of Oklahoma concert history worth remembering.
