  • Summary

  • Like Mother is a mother-daughter comedy that explores two generations of women who are a lot alike, but who are desperate to believe otherwise. This semi-autobiographical, 10-episode Audible Original follows 30-year-old Allison (Alison Stevenson) who is forced to move home after losing her job. Now that she’s back in Davis, and living with her mother Sarah (Susie Essman), the two must confront their combative relationship head-on and figure out how to live under the same roof.

Written through each character’s alternating perspective, this scripted audio series gives us an intimate look at the complicated relationship between a mother and her daughter - from one night stands in your mom’s house, to fat-shaming, to whether knocking on wood actually wards off evil, Like Mother gives us a front row seat to a raw and realistic portrayal of millennial relationships, and asks us to question, not only our own relationships, but ultimately ourselves.

This original podcast is 10 episodes, please begin with the episode titled 'Home Sweet Home'.

A Must For Mothers and Daughters

I absolutely loved the performance and reflected on my relationship with my own daughters.

Please Alison write more!

I loved this, so frank and real. I lost my mother a few years ago but I can totally relate! Well done and so refreshing. Love the honesty. Feminist must read list !

I binge listened to this in only two days

It's hilarious.
And I am not a podcast type of person. This felt like a comedy series, only just in audio.

Would love to listen to a "season" two of this so I know what happened with Alison. :)

Enjoyed it

I wasn't sure what to expect, it's nothing like my relationship with my daughter but it was good. The script was modern, humorous at times and kept me coming back for more.

Funny sad and real all at the same time.

I received this in a group of books and just listened to see what the gist was. Stoy based on Jewish mother daughter relationship that translates to all mothers and daughters I assure you. Bickering, love, and moaning about each other, defend each other throughout especially if anybody else tries to put them down. Binged listened over two days and confident anybody listening will recognise the same characters and challenges funny.

So realistic!!

My mum and I are pretty much the same as this, although maybe a little bit less of discussions I'd say and with Christianity instead of the Jewish parts, but wauw!! I'm excited to hear more ☺

loved it, liked writing style and humour. It reflects the frustration of mother/daughter relationship so well but would not be without eachother x
