  • Light Collective: Global Network of Love, Light & Lighting
    20 Oct 2026
An international group of lighting designers based on elevating women, building connections & professional opportunities, business expansion, harmony, friendship and acceptance emerged several years ago. This "non-membership" international network is based on building connections of love and success in the industry of lighting design. The result is joyous and infectious! Julie Conway from Illuminata Glass speaks with the founders of WIL, lighting designers Sharon Stammers and Martin Lupton of Light Collective. Founded in 2017, Women in Lighting as a deliberately positive platform featuring women creating lighting in all forms from around the world. ABOUT WIL, SHARON STAMMERS & MARTIN LUPTON WIL is an inspirational and global digital platform that profiles women working in the field of lighting and lighting design. It aims to promote their passion and achievements, narrate their career path and goals. It aims to celebrate their work and increase the profile of women working in lighting to help encourage, support and inspire the next generation. The WIL Website now features 170 interviews by international lighting designers from 87 countries and counting! Ambassadors represent many countries to build community in their local areas. The platform is not membership based, so anyone can join. Lighting designers, supporters, brand partners, and it is not just for women. Light Collective are not a standard lighting consultancy… in fact, we really struggle to categorise ourselves given that our body of light based work is so diverse. Our creative portfolio of work houses more than architectural lighting design and has grown to encompass many innovative projects which include light art installations, marketing projects, competitions, curated exhibitions, lighting awards, branding, trade stands and shows, epic parties, pop up events, guerrilla lighting, community projects, writing books, activism and light education. IN THIS EPISODE Julie hosts Martin and Sharon from their home country in London, UK. However, the two founders of WIL Travel non stop to support the global events hosted by WIL partners. Their generosity and support sees no bounds. In fact, calling them to invite them to this podcast is the pure essence of how WIL works. Yes is the answer, and the follow up question is how, where, when? We are there. Julie also hosted Martin and Sharon for a live glassblowing demonstration at Julie's partner glass studio in Oaxaca, Mexico in collaboration with Light Collective Latam and WIL Mexico. Be sure to sign up for their newsletter to keep up with all of the events and launches by the designers worldwide! YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT How Sharon & Martin discovered the imbalance of professional lighting designers represented in the large architectural and lighting firms. Creating the WIL was to bring awareness to this imbalance of successful female lighting designers. The WIL is represented in 87 countries and counting! Please see the website for the list of international ambassadors representing the WIL globally. This is especially helpful for countries where women are even more segregated from men in the professional industry. Julie met the Women in Lighting group on an international women's lighting conference in lockdown of 2020. Her initial meetups in the online chat rooms have become dear friendships and collaborators. Sharon & Martin are pure supporters, encouraging gatherings, conferences, events and even printing books to celebrate Lighting Design in many categories including Art, Entertainment, and Design. Julie collaborated with WIL Italy Ambassadors for her presentation in Venice Design Week in Italy, by inviting for a presentation called "Balance of Decorative and Technical Lighting" Julie hosted WIL Mexico for Glassblowing Demo with Recycled Glass Julie partnered with the WIL Egypt to present in Cairo to present Elevate Space with Light A THOUGHT TO CARRY WITH YOU "When women are supported professionally, all boats rise together." The WIL project has evolved to form an international connected community that shares information, support and knowledge and numerous events around the world. As a professor at Harvard Medical School he led the team that located the suprachiasmatic nucleus, the biological clock in the human brain that controls the timing of sleep and wake, pioneered research on how the human body can safely adapt to working around the clock, and wrote the best-selling book "The Clocks That Time Us: Physiology of the Circadian Timing System" Julie Conway from Illuminata Glass hosts the Light Doctor, Martin Moore-Ede in discussions about the Super Chiasmatic Nucleus, Healing with Full Spectrum Light, and the magic of the color blue. To address his clients' growing concerns about the harmful effects of conventional fluorescent and LED lighting on workplace health, safety and performance, Dr Moore-Ede founded the CIRCADIAN Light Research Center in 2010 which identified the key blue wavelengths that synchronize circadian clocks. He is a frequent guest on TV programs including CNN, Today Show, Good Morning America, 20:20, Dateline, Oprah Winfrey, Nova, BBC, as well as NPR radio and print media (Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, Time and Newsweek). • Full-spectrum Lighting for Tech Screens: Pixun Technologies Merges Sunlight With Tech Devices for Health Benefits: Peter Veto, Liliana Lettieri and Todd Bouman
    6 Oct 2026
What if your tech devices can become healthy? Looking at screens is a large part of modern life, but may have negative physiological impact of light on the human body. Julie Conway from Illuminata Glass sits down with Pixun founder Peter Veto from Hungary and his partners from Southern California to bring healthy lighting into the world of computer technology. ABOUT PIXUN TECHNOLOGIES: Pixun's founders both suffered negative health effects stemming from overexposure to artificial lights and computer displays. Spurred on by light sensitivity, Founder Peter Veto, had a spark of inspiration to bring full spectrum sunlight into his desk computer. Many industries require workers to spend hours in front of computer screens. Researchers, video editors, architects, designers, students, and workers in many other fields are spending most waking hours ingesting blue-lit emitting from the screen. Not to mention content creation or streaming videos or social media. With a passionate drive to solve this problem, they are developing solutions for a healthier, nature-based tech revolution. Pixun's vision is to redefine computer displays by bringing full-spectrum natural light into all your digital images. IN THIS EPISODE Julie and Peter discuss light sensitivity and how to navigate working in the modern world. Liliana's history of biological studies on species that emit light codes for preservation as well as evolution of the species. Her knowledge from studying animals in Nature, proves that all plants and animals alight with natural light cycles for survival. Aligning with circadian health helped her heal from health issues. Todd Bouman brings his expertise from the Tech Startup world, merging the use of sunlight in tech devices. This revolutionary product brings an awareness and a connection to the natural environment in an industry that usually overrides Earth's cycles. YOU'LL HEAR ABOUT How Pixun's solar captive technology can illuminate a computer screen with full-spectrum light. Solar light is beneficial for brain activity, therefore working long hours on screens illuminated with the sun will increase healthy brain function. How industry specific jobs require many hours on screens and the health ailments that may be caused by toxic light in our screens. Wearing blue blocker, and getting outside can help interrupt the long hours on screens. A new perspective of how tech hardware can honor the natural cycles of sunlight for computer screens. This LLR episode highlights the evolutionary invention due to illness, and light sensitivity. How to work smarter and in alignment with Nature's light cycles.
