Fear and horror are closely intertwined emotions, but the operate at different stages of threat perception-moving from the anticipation of danger to the emotional impact after it occurs.
Fear: a fundamental, instinctual emotional response to an imminent or perceived threat.
Horror: A complex psychological and visceral response to something revolting, grotesque, or horrifying once it is revealed or encountered
Fear is driven by apprehension, horror stems from realization- the feeling of shock, disgust, dread, or psychological recoil when witnessing something that violates safety, morality, or natural order.
