Field, Forest & Folklore is inspired by my own journey through the old ways, the green world, and the landscapes that continue to shape our lives. From ancient woodland and quiet hedgerows to folklore, gardening, seasonal traditions, and stories inspired by the British countryside, this podcast explores the enduring relationship between people, place, and nature — and the quiet sense of wonder and magic that can still be found within the natural world. Thoughtful, reflective, and deeply connected to the land, Field, Forest & Folklore is an invitation to slow down, look closer, and listen to the world around us.

  • The Starling Murmurations Of November
    21 Oct 2026

Inspiration for this week's podcast came from one of the most beautiful things I have even seen.. starling murmurations. Once you’ve seen a starling murmuration you don’t forget it. Thousands of starlings arriving at dusk swirling shapes. A wildlife miracle, part seasonal signpost, and part reminder that nature still has the power to stop us mid-step.

If you’ve been craving a slower rhythm, consider this your invitation to step outside, listen carefully, and look a little closer.

Subscribe so you don’t miss the December special, share this with a fellow nature lover, and please leave a five-star review if the show helps you see the season differently.

  • Apples, Acorns, And The Magic Of The Turning Year
    21 Aug 2026

We walk the edge of late summer and early autumn/fall, letting apples, acorns, hedgerows, and harvested fields reveal what abundance really looks like. The season’s shift becomes a gentle lesson in balance, renewal, and how letting go can open a new door.
    • noticing early signs of autumn in sound, color, and texture
    • apples as a symbol of abundance, history, and folklore
    • deciduous trees and the cycle of renewal
    • autumn equinox as a marker of balance between light and dark
    • oak trees, acorns, and what resilience looks like over time
    • bird migration and how warming winters may change patterns
    • hedgerows as wildlife corridors filled with berries and nuts
    • mycelium networks and the hidden work of fungi underground
    • harvested fields as places where decomposition becomes new life
    • a closing story about giving without certainty
