This episode looks at a six-week University of Nottingham trial in 117 adults with knee osteoarthritis. Participants took inulin, a prebiotic fiber, alone, did digitally supported physical therapy alone, combined both, or took a placebo. Inulin reduced knee pain and improved grip strength.
You'll hear why researchers think gut bacteria may be involved, including higher butyrate and GLP-1 levels, and why inulin was not a GLP-1 medication. Only 3.6% of the inulin-only group dropped out, versus 21% in physical therapy alone. Talk to a doctor before starting any supplement.
