About this listen

On 8 March 2014, a Boeing 777 travelling from Malaysia to Beijing with 239 people onboard disappeared. Despite the most expensive and expansive search in human history, it has never been found.

Was it one of the largest ever acts of mass murder, a hijacking that went wrong, or was it something less sinister like technical failure? Aviation experts have no answers. Politicians have no easy solutions. Families have no bodies to bury.

This Audible Original podcast is co-presented by journalist and broadcaster Jana Wendt and Peter Waring a former Australian naval officer who worked on the search. It re-examines the evidence and tells the inside story of those whose lives have been consumed by aviation’s most perplexing mystery.

While this is a a comprehensive overview of the mystery surrounding MH370, it also never forgets the human element and the ongoing suffering of bereaved families. It's also a fascinating insight into the processes and politics behind the international search effort for the plane. Would absolutely recommend!

Utterly captivating story, brilliantly told

I found this podcast so interesting and also sad, so many lives lost. It was very well produced and presented. Definitely worth listening to.

Fascinating

Very well constructed, informative and not in the slightest sensationalised. Facts, documents, personal accounts. Definitely worth a listen.

Gripping, intense.

I don’t think you even need to be interested in aviation to appreciate this pod cast, it’s on a human level too. Well researched and produced and absolutely fascinating. Very easy to listen to and understand. Very poignant.

Fascinating listen.

There's a lot of good information, technical expertise, and a wide range of views considered from aviation experts to the more conspiracy minded. The sound quality and production is excellent. If I had constructive criticism, it's that the editing could have been tighter. There is some stuff that's repeated, it doesn't need the foreshadowing section at the start of each episode, and quite frankly the whole first episode is superfluous - it's about the presenters, not the crash. You can skip it and not miss anything. It could have been a tight 6-part podcast, but it's a slightly flabby, well researched and informative 8-parter instead.

Very good, but not great

Bob Cratchet

I only listened to the last episode, which was fascinating and compelling and convinced me that this is the most likely scenario. One unhinged psycho pilot that planned and executed precisely. No complicated conspiracy needed

Interesting analysis

Very interesting insight into the facts and hypothesis surrounding the tragedy. Let’s hope some day there might be some more episodes to bring some closer for the families of everyone involved.
