About this listen

A hilarious take on modern dating through the eyes of Northern ex-pat Grace and laidback Londoner Elliot as they attempt to navigate life while being haunted through the years by a blind date that goes disastrously wrong.

Grace Williams and Elliot Dowd meet for a blind date arranged by Connector Magazine’s ‘Match-Ups’ feature, a popular free mag flung in to the hands of commuters at tube stations. They both arrive with good intentions but the date quickly turns sour due to a series of hilarious mishaps...the date is deemed a disaster, and neither Grace not Elliot want to see each other ever again. The Universe however has other ideas...the feature is a hit for the magazine and it goes viral turning them both in to overnight celebrities. As the years pass and Elliot and Grace’s world’s continue to collide they can’t deny their enduring, if infuriating, connection.

Written by accomplished audio writer Eddie Robson, Car Crash is produced for Audible by Bafflegab, an award winning leader in audio production.

This turned out better than I had expected. I really enjoyed the story, performance and the production. Great delivery from all voices.

Pleasantly surprised

This was so funny, short, sharp, witty, two contrasting characters meeting for the worst blind date ever. Then it deteriorated into two guys arguing about football, which went on too long, it lost it's zest so I stopped listening.

Started good, went off!

Really enjoyed the whole thing. There's comedy, romance, and it's thought provoking. It's very well executed and feels like watching a movie, except the scenes are in your head. If you're are a light hearted listen, I'd recommend this without a heartbeat.

Absolute gem!

I didn’t want to stop listening once I’d started and I didn’t drift off to sleep once, that’s a sign of a great audiobook.

Listened to it in one day.

I really enjoyed this comedy. The writing, acting and production were top-notch. I listened to the whole thing in one afternoon, with each episode bringing a new development. All genuinely comic, mental, non-offensive and heartwarming. The characters were relatable and likeable. Quintessentially English and metropolitan in its portrayal of various characters from South London, The North and other believable accents, classes, careers and world-views. How they managed to bottle so much plot, character development and context into a relatively short production is a testament to its genius. In short, loved it! Great work! More from this team please!!

Very enjoyable audio play
