In this debut episode of African Women’s Rugby Stories, host Nekesa Were steps into the spotlight — this time as the guest. In a warm and thoughtful conversation led by her friend and renowned media personality Laura Walubengo, Nekesa shares her personal journey with the game and the inspiration behind the podcast.

Together, they explore what it means to hold space for women in rugby, why these stories matter, and how this platform hopes to shift narratives and spark change. Nekesa also offers a candid take on the current rugby landscape in Kenya — the promise, the politics, and the power of women in the game.

This is the beginning of something bold.
