Summary
The historical saga that has enthralled millions of fans, Ken Follett's Kingsbridge series continues with World Without End.
On the day after Halloween, in the year 1327, four children slip away from the cathedral city of Kingsbridge. They are a thief, a bully, a boy genius and a girl who wants to be a doctor. In the forest they see two men killed.
As adults, their lives will be braided together by ambition, love, greed and revenge. They will see prosperity and famine, plague and war. One boy will travel the world but come home in the end; the other will be a powerful, corrupt nobleman. One girl will defy the might of the medieval church; the other will pursue an impossible love. And always they will live under the long shadow of the unexplained killing they witnessed on that fateful childhood day.
Ken Follett’s masterful epic The Pillars of the Earth enchanted millions of readers with its compelling drama of war, passion and family conflict set around the building of a cathedral. World Without End takes readers to medieval Kingsbridge two centuries later, as the men, women and children of the city once again grapple with the devastating sweep of historical change.
World Without End is followed by the third of Ken Follett's Kingsbridge novels, A Column of Fire.

Classic Follet
An entertaining continuation of the saga from this highly regarded author. I enjoyed ‘Pillars’ many decades ago and have now been equally absorbed by this lengthy volume. It’s good value per minute as well! I shall soon attack the next with keen anticipation.

Jon Lee narrates beautifully
I admit I struggled a little when I began this second book but it wasn't long before I was caught up in the lives of the Kingsbridge folk.
I liked how the author jumped the centuries and followed the descendants of Jack 'Master Builder' and Anthony 'Prior' while bringing in new characters.
Now starting book 3.

Very enjoyable, but..
I really enjoyed the story, although the brutality and spiteful vindictiveness of Philemon & Ralph was a little excessive and seemed very easy for those characters to obtain and apply. Overall I would give the book a 90%, i am looking forward to the next in line!

One of my favourite books
This is my second time listening to this book and it's even better second time. I love following the lives of the villagers. The narration is my favourite... It's long book but it kept my interest from start to finish. I've been listening to it every spare minute I get. The only people glad the book is finished are me family cause 'they've got me back now'. I would recommend this book (although not one for youngsters).

Most enjoyable
Whether you have already read The Pillars of the Earth matters not as this book stands alone.
An excellent, intriguing, densely-plotted novel with well drawn characters makes for addictive listening so if you're short on time, choose another book until you have the leisure to give it your full attention.
I've given it four, rather than five stars as the narrator, who is in the main excellent, has some rather odd pronunciations at times which I find really annoying - but that's probably a very personal thing.
Well worth the price and the time it will take you to listen to it.

A stunning sequel to Pillars
Kept us wanting to hear more. The narration was excellent as was the story and characters. A long story but we enjoyed every minute with its twists and turns. If you enjoyed Pillars you won't be disappointed with this one.
