全国ほぼすべてのエリアで起きている人口と企業数の継続的な減少。長らく続く貸出金利の低下。銀行収益の中核である資金利益は右肩下がりだ。地域経済の中核となるべき地方銀行も同様だ。金融庁も２０１８年７月「地域銀行モニタリング結果とりまとめ」を発表し、今の地方銀行が抱える課題をあらためて厳しく指摘した。そこには「目先の目標達成を優先」、「計画に実現性がない」、「結果に対する分析が不十分」などの問題点が並ぶ。金利の緩やかな上昇など外部環境の好転を期待するのではなく、既存の枠組みを自ら壊し、新たなビジネスモデルをどう構築するか。先んじて動き出したメガバンク、そして地銀の活路を探った。
