Story
The colonists from the Pathfinder have arrived on Kaguya, a planet with low gravity but a very dense atmosphere. It’s fun to jump around, but the air makes you loopy - and worse than that, the heavy atmosphere means that wind storms, although rare, are absolutely devastating. Zero and Nyx help to get everything locked down before the first big storm, but they stumble onto a group of thieves who have stolen some mining equipment. Before the kids have a chance to get away and tell anyone, the storm hits and the massive winds carry them far away.

Being a superhero should be fun. After all, a world of super powers is a world where Amazonian juggernauts made of candy battle guys in spandex that drive talking cars. Irene loves that weirdness, loves the game of fighting, and loves being a four-foot-tall woman who still gets to drop big heavy objects on villains' heads. In 1980, that fun is in danger. The DFZ, the metropolis formerly known as Detroit, is the world’s most magical city with a population of nine million and zero public safety laws. That’s a lot of mages, cybernetically enhanced chrome heads, and mythical beasties who die, get into debt, and otherwise fail to pay their rent. When they can’t pay their bills, their stuff gets sold to the highest bidder. That’s when they call me. I’m a Cleaner: a freelance mage employed by the DFZ to sort through the mountains of magical junk people leave behind. It’s not a pretty job, or a safe one....

Summary
It’s one kid versus an entire band of space pirates in this cosmic middle grade caper from New York Times bestselling author Dan Wells.
Zero is just one of 20,000 people aboard a spaceship bound for a new planet set to be colonized. The journey is over a century long but luckily, everyone is in stasis, so they’ll be safe and sound asleep during the trip. Everyone that is, except for Zero, whose pod has malfunctioned, waking him up a hundred years early. His initial excitement in roaming the ship alone quickly turns to a heart-stopping interstellar adventure when a family of space pirates show up, trying to hijack the ship and take the colonizers hostage. With everyone he knows fast asleep, it’s up to Zero to think fast and find a way to stop them–all on his own.
The full cast for this production includes Emily Woo Zeller, Margaret Ying Drake, Betsy Hogg, Josh Hurley, Jonathan Davis, Jennifer Van Dyck, Chelsea Spack, Charlie Thurston, David Shih, Eunice Wong, Eddy Lee, Allyson Johnson, and Polly Lee.

Brilliant love it my son keeps going back to this story
This book is aimed at preteen’s, its well written informative and fun. The actors are well placed with convincing dialect. The music and the narrator are very easy to listen to.
The storey takes you an adventure through space from planet earth through the solar system. The experience of the sleeping pods is very believable. My ten year old has listened to this several times over the last 12 months at bedtime to fall asleep too.

Passengers movie with space pirates
Earth has discovered two planets which could sustain human life, and have built two generation ships to take 20,000 people to each planet. Zero and his family (his parent's worked on creating the generation ship) are part of the 20,000 who will board the ship and be put into cryostasis for the 105 year journey. But 28 days into a 105 year journey, as the ship goes through the Kuiper Belt, Zero wakes up to find himself alone on a giant ship. Alone, except for the space pirates living in The Belt who are trying to steal parts off of the ship. Can Zero stop the pirates, and work out how to get his cryopod working again?
While this is on the surface a kids story, it is well told and engaging and good for the entire family. Kids will enjoy it, and adults probably will too. Adults won't have to endure it.
The science in this book is good, but also easily accessible for all ages. It easily describes things like the lack of set direction in space (the enemies gate is down!) and how asteroid belts work (not like star wars where you weave between rocks that are always clashing together), without descending into information dumps. The science is built into the story.
Main narration is performed by Zeller, with the voices for each character done by other actors. So each individual character has a very distinct voice. The multiple voices are seamlessly integrated together, and sound really good. There is minimal sound effects or music. It is used but it is light and subtle touches, so enhance the production but not overwhelm it. There are other effects such as doing slight voice echos when Zero first wakes up and is searching a empty space ship alone - gives impression of space and emptiness that really adds to the atmosphere.

I haven’t been a huge fan of the free originals so far, and I figured with this being upper MG, something I don’t usually read, I would continue to be disappointed. However, I was wrong. This book was well-written and expertly performed. It’s the first of the free originals that I would’ve paid for.
