"Many authors do a disservice to their books by narrating their audio version instead of using a professional.. You are the exception! No voice actor could have done a better job of captivating me throughout the whole listening experience. Well done!" Danny Kao, San Francisco, California, USA

What if everything you know about Jack the Ripper is wrong?

Since 1888, hundreds of suspects have been proposed for the Jack the Ripper murders–from Polish barbers to Freemason conspiracies.

But what if investigators have been asking the wrong question?

Instead of asking ‘Who was Jack the Ripper?’, Richard Walker asked ‘How were these murders actually committed?’

What he discovered is truly shocking.

Richard Walker grew up in Liverpool before a life of adventure—from yachting across the Pacific to 30 years on stage—eventually joining the prestigious London Walks tour company to become a passionate Jack the Ripper tour guide with over 18 years’ experience. He leads intimate tours from Whitechapel, blending theatrical storytelling and historical insight.

I found this audiobook absolutely fascinating from start to finish. Rather than simply retelling the Jack the Ripper murders, it explores how Victorian society, the press, and public fascination helped turn the case into one of history’s most enduring mysteries. The storytelling kept me engaged, and I really enjoyed the fresh perspective on a subject that has been discussed so many times. A captivating listen for anyone interested in true crime, Victorian history, and the stories behind famous mysteries.

I love the fact that he talked (wrote) about each victim as an individual and not just some common street person. Loved that even the simplest explanation helps us understand the cases.

Interesting take on such a great tale

A fresh, absorbing and objective look at the Jack the Ripper murders. Beautifully narrated by the author himself, well paced and above all empathic. Walker compels us to place the murders in the context of the period. This is no dry reading, Walker is a hugely engaging and skillful story teller. I read the book, I enjoyed the audio even more. Highly recommended.

the Author compiles his research of the gruesome mysterious murders that took place in 1888 at white chapel he explained how the infamous Jack the Ripper murders evolved into one of history's greatest mysteries through Victorian media, public fascination, and myth making. The book combines historical research with an examination of the police investigation, the victims, and the social conditions of Victorian London while separating fact from fiction. although the murders are still unsolved this book is a fascinating read.

This was a very interesting and insightful book. this book portrayed that most women were not seen as individuals but as property. Females who fell on hard times or at a certain age without male companionship/husband were deemed a prostitute. The law never saw someone on hard times, they were forgotten or punished for something that wasn't their fault. Within the pages of this book London was no place for any middle-age single woman to wander at nights. The law seemed to ignore or punish those who needed to be protected. they were forced to face their demies on their own. Quite a few fell to the knife or a blunt instrument and they were all seen as dredges of society. The jack the ripper theory felt like a way to simply put all those murders under one umbrella to make sense of them, with advances in technology more information could have been garnered to get a better idea of who murdered all these women. it's sad and it comes across as a travesty carried against women. it is still a puzzle unfolding but a rather eye opening read nonetheless.
