Summary

A new audiobook from the author of Billy and Me about love and the unbreakable bonds of friendship.

Maddy, dressed in white, stands at the back of the church. At the end of the aisle is Rob - the man she's about to marry. Next to Rob is Ben - best man and the best friend any two people ever had. And that's the problem. Because if it wasn't Rob waiting for her at the altar, there's a strong chance it would be Ben. Loyal and sensitive Ben has always kept his feelings to himself, but if he turned round and told Maddy she was making a mistake, would she listen? And would he be right?

Best friends since childhood, Maddy, Ben and Rob thought their bond was unbreakable. But love changes everything. Maddy has a choice to make but will she choose wisely? Her heart, and the hearts of the two best men she knows, depend on it...

Great

Story wasnt the usual predictable storyline. I didn't expect that ending if I'm honest. Most books would have opted for the latter and revelled in the mystery of it all. Adored this book.

Disappointing

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I can tell you what I DIDN'T like about the book......The ending!!
It was an easy to listen to book, but I thought there was going to be a twist in the tale at the end but there wasn't. So I was interested in the book throughout, thinking that something outstanding or shocking was going to happen at the end.....but it didn't, which then made the book totally average. I wish I hadn't have wasted a credit (or my time) listening to this book. The characters were all 'nice', just ordinary. Nothing in the book made me laugh or cry but I did feel for Ben, he seemed to be the most emotional character.

If this book were a film would you go see it?

The narrators were excellent. I've listened to a few books read by Kate Rawson and I like her style, she is a good narrator. Ben Elliot was also a good narrator even though I did sometimes think I was listening to Jack Dee!!

Any additional comments?

The book was just OK, I wouldn't tell anyone not to read it as I can see from other reviews that a lot of people really enjoyed it.

Heartwarming, nostalgic, easy listening

This book was the perfect easy listen. A heartwarming story, with hits of nostalgia of falling in love and characters you couldn’t help but like. Loved that it was read by two people.

Giovanna does it again!

This book is a true love story you are always hoping that Ben will get his woman the love of his life. He does get but maybe not the way we thought or hoped another great book from Giovanna Fletcher would definitely recommend

A love story with a twist

And not one I entirely liked. I wasn’t a big fan of Maddy after the pivotal moment in the story - I found her a bit selfish and self centred, which spoiled the rest of it for me.

Not as good as I'd hoped

It started well but went nowhere. It seemed to get lost trying to make a moral statement about friendship and love. The epilogue was just cheese.

Childhood sweetheart for ever

This was an easy book to listen to, a lovely story of everlasting friendships through school and beyond into adulthood. The peaks and troughs of growing up.

gripped from the start

it took me a couple of attempts to actually find a book that I enjoyed being read to me, and even listening to the sample had me hooked. the people reading the story to you had very expressive voices which made you empathise with them made you hate the different characters at different times and even made you fall in love with the idea of the friendship blossoming into a relationship like they had ... its easy to listen to as I listen to it whilst I work ... the characters voices aren't annoying to listen to which makes it rather more enjoyable than other books I have read.
