Publisher's Summary

From the best-selling author of Summer Unplugged, The Immortal Mark is the first in a new paranormal romance series by Amy Sparling.

The only thing Cara got for her 18th birthday was an unexpected invitation to move out of her uncle's house. College isn't an option for a poor girl with average grades, so when her best friend Riley finds them a mysterious job opportunity that includes room and board, Cara is interested but thinks it sounds too good to be true.

The night before their interview, Cara has an epic night out with Theo, an impossibly handsome guy she just met. He's charismatic, a little mysterious, and it feels like she's known him her whole life.

When she runs into him at her interview, he's cold and elusive. He makes it very clear that he doesn't want her working with him, which only makes their mutual attraction burn hotter. Cara takes the job for Riley's sake and promises herself she'll avoid this jerk and his mood swings, no matter how hard it is to keep away from him.

Soon she finds out her millionaire employers aren't normal guys who live and travel in luxury. They're immortals. Theo wasn't trying to ruin her job prospects. He was trying to save her life, because the girls they hire never make it out alive.

"Great YA/Teen Series But It Does Conclude in a Cliffhanger..."

This book is a great start to a very unique YA/teen series. There is a touch of paranormal but not much. There is also a bit of romance. Cara and her best friend Riley have gone through a lot! They have such horrible luck and when things seems to be looking up they actually get even worse.

The narration was well done and brought the story to life.

I like the fact that the main characters are young but not immature for their age. They actually seem pretty smart trying to work with all the curve balls that life has thrown at them. They have been dealt a bad hand but they try to figure out how to land on their feet.

I really enjoyed the unique story even though it concluded in a cliffhanger. I'm looking forward to reading/listening to the next book to see how they will get out of their situation. Hopefully, Theo will do his best to help them.

    "Hits the Mark"

It has been a while since I read/listened to a book in the Teen category. I felt that this was more of a contemporary then paranormal which I wasn't expecting. There is a lot of backstory (there was a lot of this and the build up did take a while) and some romance. This is about two girls that thru circumstances are running out of options, and choices are made...And who does know the best choices to make at 18. This is just as much about them as the love interest with Theo...which is insta-love. Although they are teens, they were written strong with character flaws but with little immaturity. I did enjoy her writing style and the narration.

A solid teen book...and like I said this book did take a while to build up to the climax, but I am interested to see where the story goes.

    "Good start to a series"
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

    3.5 stars
Definitely. I really enjoyed this story. It was a creative interesting and entertaining story.

It's got an unusual and unique little twist to how immortals keep themselves immortal. The characters are immediately likable and it has an interesting storyline.

However, It's not a standalone book and does end in a cliffhanger. So be warned. I am looking forward to the rest of the series to see what happens next.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Immortal Mark?

Without giving away any spoilers, when the true purpose of the bracelet is revealed.

Have you listened to any of Sarah Puckett’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have. I enjoyed her narration of this book was much more than the other I listened to. Sometimes it's just a matter of the right narrator for the right book. She was the perfect choice for this book. Her narration pulls you into the story from the start. She has a pleasant voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time. It's clearly spoken with a nice even pace. Good character voices. She was able to bring the characters and story to life. Very enjoyable.

    Story
"The name Theo is getting old really fast!"

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I am going to be brutally honest about this book.

From the first moment Cara met Theo she became obsessed. Majority of the book was about how much she loved Theo and how much she thought they were perfect together and why isn't he here with her. This book had about four and a half hours worth of pining over a man. Yes there was somewhat of a plot but it was more about an 18 year old with a crush. I do understand the Cara is 18 but still I think that she should feel that she deserves more than having to go back and forth with.

Cara started off interesting enough but as soon as she met Theo she became another character who only thought about boys. I can honestly say that I will not be listening to the next book in the series, The Immortal Truth. I don't think I can listen through another 5 to 6 hours about Cara and her feelings about Theo and how much Theo and her are meant to be together and how much her and Theo love each other. Maybe if I was younger this book would have been something I would have enjoyed but at this stage in life I can't deal with the melodrama.

    "Okay Series Starter"

The Immortal Mark is an okay series starter. There are some pacing issues but the characters are likeable. I would have liked some more info on the Immortals and the insta-love was way to quick with no build up at all. Sarah Puckett did a great job as narrator. Her narration is what kept me interested. I think id I had been reading this story I would have skimmed alot of pages. I was interested enough to get book 2 if it is released in Audio.

    "Five, friends stick together, stars"

I really enjoyed this story and can not wait to listen to the next one.
Talk about having some bad luck turn to even worse luck, well maybe sort of lol. There's some crazy things happening here. While you think things are just starting to look up for these two young girls boom what is right before your eyes can be deceiving. Then there's Theo. Oh Theo I kind of want to kick you in the shine. This story is very slow paced for good reason. There's a lot of details that can not be missed. Along this journey you see love and devotion that if you stick together things can be accomplished. I really am looking forward to seeing how these three become a team and maybe fall completely in love along the way. Let's see if they get their second chance.

    "Pleasantly surprised"

The story captured me for the first chapter. This story is about two orphaned girls who became BFF growing up. And how s black cloud of bad luck keeps following theme. This story has adventure, suspense, romance and a bit of angst to go along with immortality. However, I was very disappointed that it ends in a cliffhanger. and no mention of another book to come. I still enjoyed the book. The narration was good.

I was provided a copy of this book from the author/narrator for a honey review.

    "Story wasn't bad, BUT..."

This ends a cliff hanger.. you just start to enjoy the story, and boom, it ends. I hate that. I try really hard not to listens to books that get stretched out in to many books, when it can just be told in one book. I would MUCH rather pay more for one book, then have to buy 4 or 5 books of a story that has been chopped up in to smaller books that just leads to most money for the writer.
as much as i enjoyed what I heard of the book, I will NOT be buying book two, for this to happen again.
