Summary

The final audiobook in the #1 best-selling Alex Rider series!

Alex Rider's life changed forever with the silent pull of a trigger. When Ian Rider died at the hands of the assassin Yassen Gregorovich, Alex, ready or not, was thrust into the world of international espionage. He's the world's only teenage spy. Alex vowed revenge against Yassen and the two have battled ever since. Yet, years ago, it was none other than Alex's own father who trained and mentored Yassen, turning him into the killer he would eventually become.

What makes us choose evil? Why did one boy choose to kill while another chose to risk his life to save others? In some ways, Alex Rider and Yassen Gregorovich are mirror images of each other. Yet the paths they traveled turned them into mortal enemies. This is Yassen's story. A journey down a darkened path.

Horowitz at his best !

The story of Yassin is told in pain staking, page turning detail. All the way from an obscure Soviet village to the fateful meeting with Alex Rider on top of a London skyscraper many years.

Beyond Alex Rider

Anthony Horowitz has in this book created an engaging, action-packed back story for Yassan Gregorovich, the hitman lurking in the shadows of the excellent Rider books. Whilst keeping just the right side of traumatic, he weaves a troubling, at times Dickensian-style story of survival. He raises and underscores the moral dilemmas of life with few choices. The performance was also excellent. The whole family enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

MUCH better than I expected

I’ve recently discovered the Alex Rider series of books and have binged on them all, in sequence, since I discovered them. Every one of them a five-star listen...

... then this book appeared. A book about Yassen - not Alex.

It was a surprise to me, that the book was not about Alex. I was disappointed... but not for long.

This is a FANTASTIC book, and a book that I felt was aimed more at adult audiences than the young adult.

Learning about Yassen was excellent insight into the series.

Definitely a “must read” for any Alex Rider fan.
