Publisher's Summary

When her family's cider business is ruined and other local businesses are vandalized, Anika Penning wonders if the recent bout of unrest is merely a result of rivalry between local merchants and noblemen, or if something more sinister is at the root of the recent crimes. Along her journey Anika befriends Prince Valdemar, future king of Brevalia, but their relationship hits many twists and turns along the way. Lady Winifred Paxel Flemming pursues the prince relentlessly. His grandmother, Queen Marguerite, expects him to wed whoever she thinks is suitable, even if it means marrying a foreign princess he's never met. Anika's mother, Lady Sarah, wants Anika to help ease the family's financial burdens by marrying Erland Riccats, National Chairman of the Merchants' Guild. Lady Sarah also harbors secrets regarding Prince Valdemar's mother, Princess Karin, who met an untimely death years before. In the end, will both Anika and Prince Valdemar be forced into loveless marriages, or will they be able to outwit their enemies?

    "I love it!!!"

The cover was the first thing that attracted me to the book. I then read the description, which I thought was interesting. Once I started listening to the audio book I was so glad that I did. I have to say that I love it!!
I thought I knew what to expect but the author surprised me. I was not expecting the mystery which took me a while to fugure out who did it. There was suspense, romance and mystery.
My only negative is the love interest Prince Valdemar who really frustrated me at times. I wanted him to have more of a backbone. Unlike Anika who tried, really hard to help her family and friend and she tried to solve who was behind the problems. I actually really liked her.
Religion is part of the story but it doesn't take over the book, it suited the time period and it gave the characters, in my opinion, some realism. They struggled with what is happening and this in turn made them struggle with there belief. It was an interesting read on the human side of things, which I think the author did really well.

I liked the narrator, I thought she gave the characters there own voice. I could distingush between them without being told who they were. I would be more then happy to listen to her other narration.

"A Unique Historical Christian Suspense Romance"

This story is quite unlike most of the books in this genre. Anika's family exists on the fringes of high society because of her father's successful cider business and her mother's high-society background. But Anika would never be considered princess material. It isn't just because of her station but because of her decidedly unladylike pursuits and her unfashionable endeavours. She can shoot a crossbow, strategise with the best of them and straddle the line between merchant class and high society.

A string of crimes threatens the livelihoods of Anika's family and those of her friends. Coupled with political unrest, modernisation, and an unlikely friendship with and an attraction to Crown Prince Valdemar, Anika suddenly finds herself the centre of attention while in the midst of solving a mystery. But Anika is no fading wallflower. She unapologetically brings her strong feminist attributes and her equally strong Christian faith to the table to help her friends, the queen and her country find their way through the mystery.

Melody Delgado has drawn on interesting and sometimes contradictory elements to piece together this story. The result is quite unique, definitely interesting and overall enjoyable.

    "Clean Teen Mystery/Romance"

I really enjoyed this clean teen mystery/romance and believe that listeners of all ages will also. Anika and Prince Valdemar were very likeable characters and the story had enough plot twists to keep me guessing. A fun story, mystery and romance all came together nicely, with everything resolved at the end. Cecily White as narrator was excellent and added to my enjoyment. I would recommend Royally Entitled: Brides of Brevalia, Book 1.

"Clean YA/Teen Medieval Mystery & Romance"

I really enjoyed this young adult mystery romance! The story sucked me in and I had a hard time putting it down. The characters are well developed and the tale moves along at a great pace with quite a few unexpected twists and turns.

Narration was well done and brought the story to life.

The characters are captivating and I felt immersed in the story. There is some faith aspects woven into the story, and this book also talks about the power of prayer giving the characters strength to overcome the many obstacles in their way.

The story wraps up nicely with no major cliffhangers! All the mysterious incidents are well sorted out and the guilty parties dealt with. There is also a HEA conclusion for the main characters.

I’m really looking forward to the next book in this well written tale! It is a great listen for any age group!

    "Medieval House of Cards?"

Loosely based on the late Middle Ages, the Kingdom of Brevalia roughly parallels England in climate and politics, a monarchy interacting with a senate composed of nobles and merchants. The balance of power is shifting and civil war is threatened, thwarting the budding romance of our heroine, Anika. I picked up early on the "culprits" (yes, there are cozy mystery elements) although I didn't quite get all the details right, but the political twists and turns reminded me a bit of "House of Cards"--the BBC version. Narrator Cecily White proved quite adept at accents and voices (AUDIO), keeping my attention through a number of chores. Thoroughly entertaining!

This clèan YA historical fiction features a strong female protaganist, that knows what she wants ad goes after ït. There is plenty of suspense that draws the listener from the start.

The narration was well done. The characters were well portrayed. Cecily White does an amazing job with accents. I enjoyed this very much and will look for more from this narrator.

    "Good, clean fun"

I really enjoyed the narrator’s choices for the secondary characters. I think they fit them nicely and that helped bring the story to life. However, the two main characters’ voices didn’t sound right to me. The prince’s voice was a bit slow and tired sounding, while Anika’s was made to sound like a frail, naive little girl. Most of the time, it sounded like she was asking a question despite making a statement, with a little lilt at the end. I think this greatly and negatively contrasted her personality. Nevertheless, the narrator did a fine job in her use of accents and inflections overall, and performed the necessary emotions well.

This book is published under the Clean Reads Program which I was not familiar with prior to finding this book. The name describes the publisher’s goal quite well. There is but a kiss shared between the characters; both powerful and meaningful to the overall narrative. There is talk about religion, something I don’t necessarily like reading about in Fiction books, but I think because of the setting, time period, and genre of this book, I barely noticed. I think it fit well and was pertinent to the story so it never felt “preachy” or pushed on me. So if you’re not a particularly spiritual person and are looking for an adventurous, clean-read, I recommend checking this book out if you’re intrigued by the synopsis.

ROYALLY ENTITLED didn’t have many surprises, as most of the plot was quite predictable. There was a bit of disconnect for me as there were parts that dragged on and the story developed rather slowly. There’s a mystery to be unraveled, but there was no intrigue or thrill to it. I never felt excited or like i was on an adventure with these characters as they tried to discover the truth. It wasn’t written in a way that made it very enthralling. However, the book does contain likable characters, especially Anika Pembrie, who is a mere peasant, but a smart female ahead of her time. Prince Val had his moments, but she was the real shining star in the story. The romance between them isn’t the focus of the book, which is why there is barely any, but we do see cute flirting here and there. The book wrapped up with no major cliffhangers, but is open-ended enough to let the reader know there is more to come. I’m interested to see where the author takes the next installment in the series.

    "What a delightful book! "

In this fairy tale, Anika has two problems fighting for her family's very existence and falling in love with the kingdom's Prince Valdemar. She faces an unknown enemy who is trying to destroy her family on top of her mother who wants nothing more than to marry Anika off to the first man who can help save their cider farm and that man is not the prince.

Prince Valdemar is the handsome, entitled, future heir of Brevalia, but someone does not want him to take the throne. The only way he sees to thwart the unrest in the kingdom is not by fighting for Brevalia but instead, by getting married and it is not the woman who he has fallen in love with.

Join Anika and Valemar on their journey of self-discovery, fighting for love and how to overcome unknown enemies to not only to their love but to the kingdom. Is it really true that love can overcome all?

This is NOT my normal genre but I was asked to listen to it. Wow! I LOVED this book! The story was fun and strong, and Cecily White did a wonderful job telling Melody's story! I cannot wait for book two to come out!!!
