Summary

The skeleton detective is coming back to life… again! It’s the tenth, triumphant novel in the Skulduggery Pleasant series, and it will rearrange your world.

Skulduggery and Valkyrie are back in the tenth instalment in the bestselling Skulduggery Pleasant series – an incredible and unexpected treat for the legions of fans around the world.

We can’t say much but we can say this: Skulduggery and Valkyrie are going to team up with beloved characters from the first 9 books as well as an all-new cast, including new teen co-star Omen Darkly, for an adventure that takes the story to truly global proportions… while answering questions that go right back to the beginning.

And Derek says this: “I was halfway through Last Stand of Dead Men, I think, when I realised that I had more stories to tell. I told myself that if Skulduggery and Valkyrie survived the series, I would leave the option open of returning to their world. There were still secrets I need to reveal, after all, and there were still horrors they had to face. They survived the first series. But they’re really going to wish they hadn’t.”

Great story shame about the narrater

I so love Derek Landy’s work, he is a fantastic writer and has an amazing sense of humour. Especially in the skullduggery pleasant books. The first few books brought to life by Rupert degas are amazing, a little hiccup with Brian Bowles on book 5 but later Stephen hogan put his own fantastic stamp the last few books. I found Caroline Lenin’s reading, just that, a reading. Unlike Degas and Hogan who preformed each book. Caroline Lennon does stellar work but in my opinion she was not the wright fit for this book. I am extremely disappointed I downloaded it. I would dearly love if they redo with Stephen Hogan or better again Rupert Degas. The book it’s is fantastic, but I say buy a hard copy and read it yourself because this version does not do it justice. I’m sorry to be negative this is just my opinion.

Brilliant but hollow return

Brilliant story, everything I love about this world has been brought to life again.
But I deeply missed the deep rich tones of Stephen hogan, it just wasn't the same.
Caroline isn't a terrible narrator but I struggled to tell the difference between the characters.
If Stephen or a similar narrator could come back and redo this story it would be amazing

Reader not very good in my opinion

It's hard to tell the difference between the characters as she seems to just use her normal voice for a lot of them or only changes them slightly... guy or girl... they sound the same.

The Narration..

I am a huge fan of skulduggery pleasant and derek landy, have been since I was a kid, but I found this audiobook difficult to get through with the new narrator even though it's such a good book, really missing Stephen hogan

Great story, not a fan of the reader

I loved the story, and I'm very happy that Mr Pleasant is returning.
Unfortunately the reader of this book made it very hard to enjoy, maybe half as much as I would otherwise.
Hopefully we'll get a return of the previous readers for the next books!

The Narrator ruins this story!

I have really enjoyed this series from the beginning right up to this book. derek Landy writes a brilliant fantasy thriller filled with funny dialog, engaging characters and plot twists designed to keep you on the edge of your seat. These books rivaled the Harry Potter series for me. However switching from a male narrator for the past 9 books to a female one for this one was a huge mistake. She doesn't seem to invision Skullduggery at all, and the past narrators have done an incredible job with the masses of characters Landy has to offer. I was really disappointed with the narration choice from the beginning right up to the end of this book.

I would definitely consider rebuying it if it was rerecorded with a narrator who can invision this story properly. The only reason I am not returning it is that it would incomplete my series.

I really hope Derek Landy had no say whatsoever in the choice of narrator, otherwise he is certainly going to lose some of my respect.

Horrible performance

The story was awesome, like all the other books, but the delivery was horrible. Sounds like they hired the first Irish person they saw.

Great Dialogues as usual, terrible Narration

Terrible narration (can we please have Stephen Horgan back?). Not Landy's best but still thoroughly enjoyable. Great dialogues as usual.

Not a fan of the narrator

The Story was great, Derek Land did a great job as always but it is seriously let down by the narration.

I loved Rupert Degas who read the first few book, to me he was the voice Skulduggery Pleasant and he was able to bring to the characters to life. I wasn't pleased when he was replaced by Brain Bowels and later Stephen Hogan but they both did a good job. Brian's style was very similar to Rupert and and Stephen had made the characters his own by the end of the series.

I found listening to this book very hard going, I found the character very flat with little to separate them vocally. It felt very much like a generic reading. Caroline Lennon didn't seem invested in story or characters what so ever. A good narrator pulls you in and while listen to them you can see and hear the characters, picture what is going and I didn't get that with this book. I really hope this book is re-recorded and that someone else is brought in for future stories.
