much needed prequel with jaw dropping scope

What made the experience of listening to Origins of the Never the most enjoyable?

A great addition to the Never series,, allowing you to understand where it all began

What other book might you compare Origins of the Never to, and why?

the series, felt a little on the lines of Belgariad the Sorceror, another epic spanning 7000 years in the first person, these told from a storyteller perspective but no less vast.

Have you listened to any of Katie Welburn’s other performances? How does this one compare?

no

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

the end, i was gutted, would have liked an addittional 20 hours mr Rutherford

Any additional comments?

CJ Rutherford.s “in the Never” series

Hey if I am to take the time to review something you gonna get it wit 2 smoking barrels, (the perk of CJ not knowing where i live)
I start with the praise for his chosen narrator Katie Welburn
It is a breath of fresh air, to listen to the tones of someone who does not carry the garlic stench of a real strong accent. Allowing you to feel more involved with the characters, and her grasp at the We Irish accent made me believe she had even seen the commitments. all praise to the Narrator.
But to business, “the never” series. Lucky for me i was advised to start with prequel Origins, More a novella, but it got me hooked, so much so I continues straight onto Soles and Worlds.
From the innocent of Belfast to vast multi-worlds sounds a quandary however Its all here, with CJ’s Hometown of Belfast being the anchor that pulls this all together.
so i will summarise, “of the Never" are a compelling read, a fantasy sci fi with a little true love added. The development of its lead character (OMG its a woman) leaved the door open for some amazing continuations. The main additional characters begin life fooling me to believe they are Normal even bland, but pretty soon you have to open your mind to maximum as it seems CJ took a large dose of the Irish Pixy dust. “that escalated a little” came to mind as it fell into where i love a story to sit.

Awesome Book

What did you like most about Origins of the Never?

This book really cleared up a lot of the confusion from the Souls of the Never. It does a great job of introducing key characters int he series, and does so in a way that makes for a very enjoyable listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tenybris was my favorite in this one. His development was reminiscent of that of Anakin to Darth Vader in Star Wars. Seeing him from the start and being able to see his slow fall, step by step, in a way that you could easily see how one or two small choices can change everything.

What about Katie Welburn’s performance did you like?

I really liked the way she portrayed each character and the amount of emotion she put into the reading. I had felt that her performance in Souls of the Never was a little over the top at times. I did not get any sense of that here. She took a good performance from Souls and perfected it for Origins.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Some friends drift farther apart than others.

Any additional comments?

This book is easy to listen to in a single sitting. I listened on a flight half way across the US, and did not feel rushed. It is one that I feel I could listen to again without losing any of the enjoyment from the first.
