Summary

In December of 1282, English soldiers ambushed and murdered Llywelyn ap Gruffydd, the Prince of Wales. His death marked the end of Wales as an independent nation and the beginning of over seven hundred years under the English boot.

Footsteps in Time is the story of what might have happened had Llywelyn lived.

And what happens to the two teenagers who save him.

Footsteps in Time is the first book in the After Cilmeri Series.

Good Story

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I would recommend the book rather than the audio book to a friend yes. I wouldn't recommend the audio book because the narration sadly lets the book and it's author down.

What other book might you compare Footsteps in Time: A Time Travel Fantasy to, and why?

This book had an excellent plot and although it is in the popular time travel genre, it really is a unique story.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Being from Wales I know what a Welsh accent should sound like, and listening to the narrator get it totally wrong made me cringe. I was too busy at times being thoroughly put off by the accent that I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the story.

Could you see Footsteps in Time: A Time Travel Fantasy being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

I am sure it could be a good TV show, but not sure who the actors would be, just as long as the Welsh characters were actually Welsh, that's what would matter most.

Any additional comments?

I won this audio book which I was thrilled about because I loved the sound of the story. I promised to review it and am sad that I couldn't write anything more positive about it's narration. GIven a new narrator this book could easily get 4 and 5 star reviews.

Awful narration

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Truly disappointing. This could have been a good storyline, but the narrators mono tone coupled with the worst welsh accent I have ever heard...a mixture between bad Scottish and African, totally spoiled it. So much so that I just couldn't listen beyond chapter 2! I would advise you give this one a miss.

Story: great! Narration: absolute rubbish!

As a Welsh speaker I'm amazed I managed to make it to the end of the book. I had the first book on Kindle. When I first started listening to this one I gave up after less than a minute. I have never heard such diabolical pronunciation - even my husband can do better than that and he's not a Welsh speaker. I decided to try to get past the poor pronunciation by carrying on listening to it, but I will not be purchasing any more of the audio books as I can't bear to think about the mangling of the language of heaven! I wish the powers that be would give more consideration to who narrates what.

Don’t listen to this if you’re Welsh!

I have only just listened to 2 minutes of this book, but that was enough to tell me that the narrator cannot do a Welsh accent. It’s possibly part Scottish, part Polish – but definitely not from any region of Wales - not even hundreds of years ago! Also, she is incapable of pronouncing ‘ll’ which, given the name of one of the main characters is Llywelyn... really trying to decide if I can bear to continue!

The worst performance ever

Awful

The American narrator's voice is almost digital and she is completely unable to get anywhere near welsh pronunciation. It was excruciating
