When the road forks, how do you know which path is the right one? Raven Black hunts evildoers for fun, but her vigilante justice isn't the only reason she's hiding from the law. Emily is a teenage girl pulled from our world into a world of magic and mystery by a necromancer who intends to sacrifice her to the dark gods. Rescued in the nick of time by an enigmatic sorcerer, she discovers that she possesses magical powers and must go to Whitehall School to learn how to master them. There, she learns that the locals believe she is a "Child of Destiny" - someone whose choices might save or damn their world, a title that earns her both friends and enemies.
My name is Darcy Anderson, and I am cursed with a dark power: Whenever my life is in danger, something inside me summons elemental fire to protect me. I cannot control this. One night, I was attacked in my home. The fire ... it raged out of control. I survived the inferno, but my house burned to the ground - with my parents inside. I was at a loss to explain to the courts what happened, and so they sent me to prison for 10 years for manslaughter.
As an environmental studies major, Allie knows the planet is in trouble - a series of natural disasters recently rocked the northern hemisphere, and species across the globe are going extinct. What Allie doesn't know is that her world's decline is a result of an ancient battle called the Night War - the Norse goddess Nott's crusade to control the weakest of the light realms. And Allie most definitely doesn't know that her existence is the only thing stopping Nott from dragging the earth into total darkness.
This is the omnibus of the first three books in the urban fantasy series Twenty-Sided Sorceress, collected together for the first time in one convenient volume.

For 17-year-old Mia Ahlstrom, a world ruled by order is the only world she allows. A lifetime of chore charts, to-do lists, and study schedules have helped earn her a spot at Redwood State University's engineering program. And while her five-year plan includes finding her very own happily-evah-aftah, years at an all-girls boarding school left her feeling woefully unprepared for keg parties and co-ed extracurricular activities.
Cass Clereaux is a FireSoul - one of the unlucky few to inherit a piece of the dragon's soul. It gives her a deadly, forbidden magic, but at least it helps her find treasure. The only people she can trust are her fellow FireSouls, Del and Nix. They hunt treasure to pay the bills and keep their FireSoul secret to save their lives. When Cass is blackmailed by a criminal overlord who holds their lives in his hands, things get rough. He wants a pair of rare daggers hidden inside a deadly temple.
Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux knows she's the best - but she doesn't know if she's good enough for this job. Hired by the dangerously beautiful Archangel Raphael, a being so lethal that no mortal wants his attention, only one thing is clear - failure is not an option... even if the task she's been set is impossible. Because this time, it's not a wayward vamp she has to track. It's an archangel gone bad. The job will put Elena in the midst of a killing spree like no other, and pull her to the razor's edge of passion.
Let's get one thing straight - Ivy Wilde is not a heroine. In fact she's probably the last witch in the world you'd call if you needed a magical helping hand, regardless of her actual abilities. If it were down to Ivy, she'd spend all day every day on her sofa, where she could watch TV, munch junk food, and talk to her feline familiar to her heart's content. However, when a bureaucratic disaster ends up with Ivy as the victim of a case of mistaken identity, she's yanked very unwillingly into Arcane Branch.
I thought this would be a simple profiling case. Just another Jack the Ripper wannabe, prowling London’s streets, searching for easy kills. I was wrong. This killer is fae, and he’s as elusive as smoke on the wind. But I’m an FBI profiler, and it’s my job to track him down. It doesn’t matter that one of the main suspects - a lethally alluring fae - is trying to seduce me...or kill me, I’m not sure which. I won’t be stopped, not even when panic roils through the streets of London or when the police start to suspect me.
In Minatsol, being a dweller means that you are literally no better than dirt. In fact, dirt might actually be more useful than Willa. Her life will be one of servitude to the sols, the magic-blessed beings who could one day be chosen to become gods. At least her outer village is far removed from the cities of the sols, and she won't ever be forced to present herself to them... Until one small mistake changes everything, and Willa is awarded a position to serve at Blesswood, the top sol academy in the world - a position that she definitely did not earn.
Supernatural Bounty Hunter isn't the sort of thing you see on LinkedIn. But with a rare type of magic like mine, I don't have many options. Dangerous or not, the job is mine. And it was going fine, until an old-as-sin vampire stole my mark, and with it, my pay day. Knowing I'm poor and desperate, he has offered me a job. I'll have to work by his side to help solve a top secret case. Everyone knows not to trust vampires. Especially a hot elder vampire.
This prequel novella is set before the events of First Year (The Black Mage Book 1), following Prince Darren as a child through adolescence and his first run-in with Ryiah at the Academy of Magic. Listeners discover the dark backstory between the two princes and their father, as well as the ensuing events that shaped Darren into the Academy's most prodigal mage.
Dreams of her tormented ancestors calling out to her have haunted her since she was a child, and Andie knows she must answer their call and discover the truth. But she must do so in the magical capital of the world, surrounded by powerful sorcerers determined to uphold the lie at all cost. If they discover that she carries the blood of the dragonborn, death with be swift and her people will never get a chance at redemption.
It's tough being a faery in New Orleans, a city fraught with vampires.... From New York Times best-selling author Deanna Chase comes the complete set of the Crescent City Fae saga (Books 1-3). Includes Influential Magic, Irresistible Magic, and Intoxicating Magic.
Seventeen year old Kris Young is on the run from a throng of superhuman golden-eyed freaks hell-bent on seeing her dead, and she doesn't know why. Good thing she has her guardian angel to protect her...sort of. Kris is aided by Nathan, the mysterious man that ends up being anything but angelic when he rescues her for the fourth time in fourteen years. Even if the handsome hero illusion is shattered by his harsh treatment of her, he knows how to fight this strange enemy and is determined to keep her safe at all costs.
While Alice rampaged through Wonderland, a different story was being told. One that never should have been forgotten. The Fae courts have always been separated. So different from each other they could never agree on what is right and what is very, very wrong. Until now. A mistake long forgotten is quickly closing in and the two courts must now put all their faith in combining their powers by marriage.
Bryn Halbrook had always seen the glow. But it is only when her best friend dies that she discovers the meaning of those beautiful golden auras - Death. Alone, lost in the foster system, she struggles to understand who she is and why she was cursed with the ability to see the soon-to-be-dead.
The new foster kid, Aidan, isn't helping any. Mr. Perfect seems to fit in no matter what, making her feel even more pathetic. But when his affections turn to her, Bryn finds him hard to resist. Impossible, actually. A mystery himself, Aidan disappears, leaving behind a broken heart and a mysterious book that suggests Bryn might not be entirely human.
Bryn stands at the threshold of a journey of discovery. Will destiny help her find herself, find her purpose and her place in a world in which she'd never belonged?
Loved the narrator! At times in the middle I started losing interest but soo glad I finished it!

The book is a good read but I had a problem getting into the story because of the narrator. She read each individual sentence with same inflection you would use for reading the title of the chapter (listen to the sample). After the first 2 chapters I couldn't take it anymore. Thank god for Whispersync. I switched to reading on my own and the story got a lot better. The whole Norse mythology made this a lot of fun. The heroine started out weak but later came into her own. I recommend this book but not the audio version.
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. The story itself was good but I think it took to long to actually get to the story. I understand how one must set the stage (sort a speak) but to shorten the beginning would have given us more to go on. I f she went back to actually set her original antagonists straight. The vice principle and the girl in her class. I would have understood.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Dead Radiance?
when she beat her feathered antagonist.
What about Hollie Jackson’s performance did you like?
Hollie was fantastic!
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The Birth of Wings.
Any additional comments?
Just that getting to the point of the story quicker. To set a foreground and not finish the resolve before moving on to the second part of the story.
