Story
It began on New Year's Eve. The sickness came on suddenly, and spread quickly. The fear spread even faster. Within weeks, everything people counted on began to fail them. The electrical grid sputtered; law and government collapsed - and more than half of the world's population was decimated. Where there had been order, there was now chaos. And as the power of science and technology receded, magic rose up in its place. Some of it is good, like the witchcraft worked by Lana Bingham, practicing in the loft apartment she shares with her lover, Max.

Spoilt by narrator
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I have listened to the end but had to keep going back a chapter each time I had a break as the narrator slowed my concentration I had to push myself to listen her voice in places sound ed like she was a puppet it was terrible.
What was one of the most memorable moments of You Can't Hide?
Liked all of the story Karen did a good job but wish she had chosen someone else to narrate
What aspect of Tara Ward’s performance might you have changed?
All of it she sounded like a Dalek on Helium for some of the characters
If this book were a film would you go see it?
Yes

What a shame. Narrator was AWFUL.
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Nothing wrong with the book and love reading Karen Rose but the narrator was awful. The voices were robotic and sounded ridiculous. Completely ruined it for me.
What could Karen Rose have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Listened to the narrator crucify her book and then sack her!
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Tara Ward?
I'm new to audio books and only listened to about 5 but thoroughly enjoyed all of those. Unfortunately I can not name them. I will definitely be paying more attention in the future and I will not be buying any read by Tara Ward.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from You Can't Hide?
I haven't listened to it all yet as I can't bear the ridiculous voices she makes. Probably won't finish it just delete it. So can't comment on cutting scenes.
Any additional comments?
Does anybody listen and vet people that read their books? Because it has certainly put me off buying.

Gripping
I enjoyed this book, and found it gripping and tense. my only problem was that I felt very uncomfortable with the sex scenes, they really weren't necessary and added nothing. They were a bit over the top and made one feel like a voyeur. However, the story was good with lots of twists and kept my interest.
