Some of these same people have worked through those feelings to regain their former self-assurance. But not all of us! As the author, I’m here to tell you that I have personally experienced this situation, and I found my way through it.

This book is not my life story, but the events in my life led me to write about these topics that will help everyone:

  • Identify and conquer the feeling of disconnection
  • Spot the difference between mental health and a mental illness
  • The surprising positive health benefits of talking to others
  • Why conversation is the currency of social interaction
  • Overcome crippling isolation and move forward

You can walk away from isolation! Follow me back to your life.

If you can’t accept your situation, either, it’s time to learn a way out of it. You are not helpless. You are not too old or too young to get your social life going. The roadmap is right here! Please don’t stay disconnected from life for a moment longer! Even if you feel overwhelmed by starting, you can do this by taking one step at a time.

As someone who considers herself an introvert, I have always found it difficult to make small talk. The isolation brought to bear by Covid 19 did not help and so I related really well to the author’s story. "You Can Talk to Anyone" is a catalyst for building great interpersonal skills. The strategies and techniques included will help you improve social communication and build strong interpersonal connections.

I felt the author was speaking to me. I was especially impacted by the information in Chapter 5 which focuses on how to find or create a conversation group. The techniques are incredibly practical and enlightening, many of which are in full view but often not observed. It doesn’t have to cost money but can be most rewarding.

This is a wonderful text for those who seek to improve their quality of life by establishing and sustaining meaningful connections.

Author Ellen Dawson does a beautiful job shedding light on a topic that so many of us struggle with. She opens up about her own challenges with relating and communicating with others. I love her honesty, understanding, and practical ways to overcome isolation, fear, and insecurity. As someone who was painfully shy as a child, I still struggle with situations or settings that require talking with people, especially those I don't know. I taught 2nd grade for many years, but avoided adult communication with other teachers. I don't like large gatherings and would rather not be noticed. This book gives such good strategies to overcome those feelings, and empowers us to develop non-stressful communication skills. Loneliness and fear keep us from human interaction, which is what we need, especially in these times. I know you will benefit from this book! 5 stars!

The section on forging strong interpersonal connections really resonated with me. It’s so much more than just exchanging pleasantries or talking about the weather. This book takes it to the next level, showing how you can truly connect with people on a deeper level. 🤝
