Would you like sprinkles on your Murder Cupcakes?

Half rabbit shifter, half warlock, Leveret Wong can help anyone who comes into his magical bakery with sleep inducing raspberry buttercream and scones to make a person fall in love. The only person he can't seem to fix is himself.

Eliot Rand, the dog shifter of the Chinese Zodiac is sick of living under the harsh rule of the stars. He wants nothing more than to take back control of his life by rejecting his Fated Mate once and for all. Everything is going as planned, up until he starts working with the sweet, nerdy, funny, yet damaged and touch adverse rabbit shifter.

When destiny is ruled by the stars, fated mates takes on a whole new meaning, and a whole new dangerous design.

Set in the same Universe as The Zodiac Werewolf, this is the first book in the Shifters of the Chinese Zodiac MM Romance Series. You'll love Year of the Rabbit if you like your book boyfriends feral and protective, with sarcastic humor, hurt/comfort, healing through safe words, morally grey love interests, male male relationships, and slow burn love that turns scorching hot.

Note to listeners: While this book ends with a HFN, this is a continuing series with ever evolving relationships. It is NOT a love triangle.

Narration = 4.75 stars
Story = 5 stars (even though I hate to be continued stories)

This was my first time reading this author's books. I absolutely loved it and I am looking forward to reading more by this author.

This narrator was new to me but I really enjoyed listening to them. They had a pleasant reading voice and kept a good pace. They emoted and expressed the emotions really well. All the characters, not just the side characters were given their own distinct voice that suited them perfectly and it brought they story to life. I would definitely read them again. Note. There are a few editing glitches but they are very minor.

I loved this story and following Levy as he learns about the shifters of Chinese zodiac and what that means for him and others around him. It does has dark themes and several trigger warnings but is well written. I look forward the next book in the series. Bret also did a brilliant job in narrating and bringing the characters to life.

Truly a dark and delicious shifter story, with concepts of western and eastern zodiac ideas. The narrator did an excellent job of making the characters feel real and portrayed their very different personalities believably.

New to me narrator who I really enjoyed. Just the right amount of emotion in the words.
Story - great blurb, special zodiac shifters was a very interesting idea, and all the baking was intriguing. It was just a bit strange that Levy seemed to have more chemistry with Jun than with his fated mate Eliot. I think I would have preferred them all to develop a relationship with all three together, although that couldn't work according to the rules in this world. First in a series but fortunately no unpleasant cliffhanger.

This was an interesting world with a cute MMC and a glacial slow burn. The narration was ok when at speed. The HFN was unexpected.
