Since 1929, the Yankees have issued 73 different numbers to more than 1,500 players. Yankees by the Numbers tells those stories for every Yankee since ’29, providing insightful and humorous commentary about the more memorable players from a fan’s perspective.

It's fitting that Bill Gutman's nostalgic, refreshingly original retrospective views the Yankees through the prism of numbers, since they pioneered the concept of numbers on the back of players' jerseys in the first place. Every player to don Yankee pinstripes, from legends such as Babe Ruth to obscure journeymen like Fenton Mole, are given their due in this comprehensive and consistently entertaining book.
Richard Allen's upbeat, welcoming performance makes these detailed profiles and behind-the-scenes anecdotes essential listens for anyone interested in this storied franchise's history.
