About this listen

Book 1 in the Eisenhorn series

Inquisitor Eisenhorn faces a vast interstellar cabal and the dark power of daemons, all racing to recover an arcane text of abominable power - an ancient tome known as the Necroteuch.

Listen to It Because:

The classic novel returns in a brand new edition. Inquisitor Eisenhorn gathers allies to unravel a conspiracy and hunt an alien threat. Relive the adventures of some of Warhammer 40,000's most beloved characters, or experience the beginning of Eisenhorn's remarkable adventures for the first time.

The Story:

The Inquisition moves amongst mankind like an avenging shadow, striking down the enemies of humanity with uncompromising ruthlessness. When he finally corners an old foe, Inquisitor Gregor Eisenhorn is drawn into a sinister conspiracy. As events unfold and he gathers allies - and enemies - Eisenhorn faces a vast interstellar cabal and the dark power of daemons, all racing to recover an arcane text of abominable power: an ancient tome known as the Necroteuch.

This was the first 40k book I've come across and it captivated me. The narrator is perfect for the text, strong and dramatic. The story has some strange beats but engaged me to the the end. I always wanted to listen to the next part.

Stunning Narration

This book offers an insight into the 40k galaxy, it isn't just about self righteous Space Marines, down trodden Imperial Guardsmen, evil fanatics, and nasty aliens having a big punch up(all these things are in it) which to be fair gets tedious after a while. It takes place away from the battlefields allowing you an insight into the goings on of the broader 40k galaxy. Also having a hero who isn't afraid of being afraid is quite refreshing too.

Opens up the world of 40k

Widely regarded as one of the best series from the warhammer universe. All fans should read or listen to Eisenhorn.

Grim dark at its best.

loved it! Eisenhorn is a total bad ass, the characters around him feel real, you can picture everything as it is being read to you. I don't want to spoil any of it, so I'm not going to. I highly recommend this book, I can't wait to get on to the next one. Toby Longworth is phenomenally good! Thank you so much for this wonderful audiobook.

Fantastic start to all the books that follows laying a fantastic foundation.

I've read it, listened to it and re-listened to it and will no doubt re-listen again when I no doubt restart my Eisenhorn / Ravenor / Bequin journey.

Here begins Dan Abnett's Inquisitorial epic.
