It was never over. It was just waiting.
Nathan Carter didn’t return to Worthbridge looking for a second chance. He came back for a roof over his head, a job that pays, and maybe, if he’s lucky, a way to connect with the teenage son he’s barely known. Life in the army taught him how to survive, but not how to be a father… and definitely not how to live with the choices he made the day he walked away from everything. Including Freddie Webb.
PC Freddie Webb never left Worthbridge. Not the town. Not the ghosts. Steady, dependable, the man everyone trusts to hold the line when things fall apart, he’s spent years keeping his head down and his heart locked up tight. But all that control shatters the moment a routine arrest throws him face to face with the boy he once loved… and the son that boy now has.
What started between them as teenagers was messy, intense, and unforgettable. Fifteen years later, it’s no less complicated. Especially with Alfie, Nathan’s angry, guarded son, caught between them and already spiralling toward trouble.
As old desires resurface and old wounds reopen, Nathan and Freddie are pulled back into each other’s orbit. But with the whole town watching, tensions rising, and the past refusing to stay buried, they’ll have to decide: play it safe… or risk everything for the love they never got to finish.
Because in Worthbridge, the past never stays buried.
And some loves are worth every second of the wait.
Worth the Wait is the first book in the Worth It series, a gritty MM romance series set in a small coastal town. Each book follows a different couple, all featuring first responders entangled in a severe criminal case threatening the community they serve and the people they love.
Potential trigger warnings include: references to trauma, addiction, teen violence, emotional abuse, and PTSD. Full trigger warnings in author note. Listeners discretion advised.

This time? This time I was absolutely floored with how visceral and heartwrenching the emotions of the MCs were and how well they were put in text. The writing style builds a story that not only drags you in by the neck, but keeps you immersed in the story until the very last word.
The story, the MCs, the feels, the backdrop - all of it builds an amazingly emotional story of second chances, change, growth and finding happiness in a place life once brought pain and grief.
The book is absolutely brilliant and while I rarely revisit books, this one will for sure become one of my go to comfort reads. Even if it broke my heart in the best ways.
Narration: Brilliant as always. I don't know how many times I can sing Piers Ryman praises coming up with anything new to say. Let me just say that I always "hear" his voice when reading CF White books. This duo is a match truly made in author/narrator heaven!

darkness: 🖤🖤
feelings: 😭🥰😱🥵😍🫠😡🥹😄
narration:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love Freddie and Nathan's story. It's packed full of suspense, a love that hasn't faded even through many years of separation and dealing with past traumas.
The setting of the story is a small town on the Essex coast. I enjoyed the British humor and the language, even if I didn't understand everything straight away. This gives the book a special charm.
Piers Ryman is a brilliant narrator! He brings every nuance of emotion perfectly to life 😍🥵!
I can't wait to listen to Reese's story!

Nathan and Freddie have known each other since school days. They had the beginning of a relationship when Nathan joined the army. Nathan probably wasn't meant for an army career but he gets through.
Jump forward 15 years and Nathan is back in town bringing along a son.
Freddie still has that attraction to Nathan no matter what their past was. Then Alfie gets in trouble that involves both Nathan and Freddie. The path they take getting together and Nathan resolving his issues with his dad kept me listening late into the night.
The narration by Piers Ryman brought the characters to life. You made it easy to visualize.
Meant to be
