Summary
Dan was an average loser on the brink of a meltdown. His rampant alcoholism and drug addiction had turned his life into a chaotic mess, and nothing seemed to ever go right for him. Then, one morning, he awakens to find that the world around him has fallen apart. Earth has passed through the tail of a mysterious comet that scientists call Wormwood, and a strange, toxic mist has descended from the sky. People everywhere begin dying off in record numbers, and those who have survived seem to have completely lost their minds or have walled themselves up in their homes.
Amid the chaos, Dan has to get it together and use everything he has learned in his life just to survive. With his addictions controlling his every decision, he will have to fight his inner demons if he is to live through Wormwood Dawn.

Enjoyable Post Apocalyptic listen.
Dan is trying to battle his alcohol and drug addiction but is failing miserably. He decides to drive to town to get more booze. On his way he notices a weird fog all around, he figures it's nothing to worry about and keeps going. While in town, he sees people acting extremely weird so high tails it home. Just what is going on? When he finds out the truth, it's not only alcohol or drugs that will kill him!!
This was actually a really good listen. It's not a blood and gore kind of Zombie book, it focuses more on the characters and their survival then it does on the Zombies. Dan, while a very relatable character, is hard to like at times. All he wants is his booze and drugs yet he still manages to do what's needed. Let's just say that for the most part, I liked him. He's a normal guy just trying to survive.
I liked the plot. I liked the fact that it wasn't a virus that caused the outbreak, but the tail end of a comet. You can just imagine what would be in space dust so this is believable. It's also entertaining enough that I kept turning the pages to see what happens next. Being a serial, you know going into it that it's going to be short, but this was surprisingly sufficient as a story. It actually felt longer than it was.
In all, an entertaining and engaging read. I think i might wait till the serials are bunched together though because I'm impatient to see what happens!
I enjoyed the narration. Clifford Edwards did a really good job and I liked how he did the radio voices etc.

Wormwood Dawn - highly recommended book
I really was itching for a good post apocalyptic book and thought I would take a chance with this one. The author is new to me and I thought the plot looked interesting. I was a bit put off on the sound initially - the simplest way I can put it is that it is not top notch recording equipment, so IMAGINE MY SURPRISE, when I was able to totally lose myself in this story and I was so focused on what was happening that it no longer bothered me. Now that says something for how much I lost myself in the book. It is not your standard PA book with zombies and has several twists. Read it, you won't consider the time spent doing so a waste!
What would I change? The books need to be longer!! BTW the narrarator did do a excellent job, the 4 stars for performance had to do with the sound NOT THE NARRATOR.

Gripping Storyline, Flawlessly Delivered
I'm not usually a science fiction fan, but this was recommended to me by a close friend whose opinion I respect and I am so happy that he made the suggestion! The gripping story line was brought to life by a flawless narration and I was instantly sucked in.
The main character Dan is easy to relate to and was exciting to hear an apocalyptic story where the characters are not at all prepared for the inevitable loss of the modern day conveniences we all take for granted.
I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

Booze and Zombies What More Could You Want
Wormwood Dawn is a very entertaining alternative take on the zombie apocalypse. Dan and Drew are pill popping, joint smoking, alcoholic misfits who face off against zombie cats, coyotes, and humans without the benefit of a doomsday bunker full of guns, ammo, food and water or years of special forces training. Dan and Drew are “those guys” you knew in college and make very amusing main characters, with lots of great one liners. Although this story was too short I am sure it is just a taste of more to come, I can’t wait for the next installment. The narrator did a great job however the audio quality was poor. I enjoyed the story and the narrator enough I was able to overlook the poor audio, usually that is a deal breaker for me so I am glad I held in there as I didn’t even notice it after a little while. I would definitely recommend this book to friends and look forward to the future adventures of Dan and Drew and finding out more about the Wormwood Comet.

Pretty scary suff!
What did you love best about Wormwood Dawn?
I'm not an active horror pursuer, but I do like zombie films, so this was a good change. I loved the sense of humour of the main character, Dan.
What did you like best about this story?
It has to be Dan, as the world ends around him he's just so bent on getting wasted still that you just can't help but feel for him. A normal day starts out and ends pretty badly for him. The end of the world and he's goosed, but his outlook is still awesome.
What about Clifford Edwards’s performance did you like?
This was the first one I've listened to from Cliff, and I enjoyed the fun he brought to Dan's character, in the darkest moments, Dan's thoughts are delivered with just the right amount of sarcastic and edge that you really do believe he's telling you his life story. Great job.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
There were some pretty gruesome moments, and at the time I started to listen to this, 6am in the UK, there was a nice blanket of Fog, which I was driving though! the atmosphere created with the narration and my actual life was just so freaky, it scared me silly. haha.
Any additional comments?
I've listened to all three so far, so I'm going to post a longer review on story and content there.
Thanks!

Great start to the series.
Where does Wormwood Dawn rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Story is very interesting, but the recording of the narrator sounds like he is sitting in a can and it just distracting. It takes a little getting use to, but every once in a while you realize that it sound like you listening to someone speaking in a can.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Wormwood Dawn?
When Dan have to fight with himself to not drink. It's comical and relatable because I can remember back in college telling myself to study first and drink later.
Have you listened to any of Clifford Edwards’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Any additional comments?
Great story, good narrator.. horrible sound effect. I am not sure if this is done intentionally or it's just the quality of the recording. But if this is done intentionally then some one need to stop, the "can" sound effect is very distracting.

I Really Enjoyed Everything About This Audiobook
WORMWOOD DAWN was an exceptionally well-written and well narrated audiobook. I loved the protagonist Dan. Even though he has a few issues he's dealing with, he's still a hero. He could've been any number of dudes I've known. His character is strong and has staying power. The storyline was great and believable. I enjoyed everything about this book. I thought the pace of the story was excellent and with a skilled narrator this was a book I'd definitely recommend. EDWARD CRAE is an author I'll keep on my watch list for sure.
CLIFFORD EDWARDS' performance was flawless. With his even tone and great voice inflections, he drew me in from beginning to end. He gives the listener the feel of being there. This is what I love; when author/reader make it happen and they did just that. I'm looking forward to book two. Also, I listened through my stereo speakers and I thought the audio quality was very good and realistic.

Good listen
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Because it keeps you wondering what's going to happen next.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Wormwood Dawn?
When they were looking for the cat and finally found it. (Ewww)
What does Clifford Edwards bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
He makes you feel like your there, and does the voices well enough that you get a feel of each individual personality.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Not sure? But it would probably have the word "zombie" in there somewhere. ;)
Any additional comments?
