Since the house was built in 1810, the Danes have always lived at Woodspring. Over the generations it has given them shelter, solace and joy.

War brings change, and the next three generations of the family will lead very different lives, at home and abroad.

Peace is shattered, pain is unavoidable, loves are found and lost, but Woodspring is constant, and will always draw them back...

Not the best book by Elizabeth Buchan in my opinion. It jumped rapidly from epoch to epoch, and as a result I found the characterisations rather weak. I did not build a mental picture of any if them. I feel the author over extended herself in this saga.

A very large canvas

What a wonderful epic story. Lives wound through events and time so beautifully written and well narrated.
