Summary

Women is a novella about falling in love with a woman, about loving women, about being a woman. It is a novella about a mother and a daughter. A novella about female friendships that blur the line of romance. A novella about a woman who, after having her first sexual relationship with a woman, goes on a series of (comical) OK Cupid dates with other women. A novella about a woman in her 20s who doesn't know if she's gay or straight or bi. A novella about falling in love and having your heart broken and figuring out what to do next. The book is an urgent recall of heartbreak, of a stark identity in crisis.

Simple but not; it is captivating

When I first started listening to this story, I didn’t like the narration. However, as the story progressed, it soon seemed as if the voice matched the story perfectly. The writing is simplistic yet captivating, and the story is enticing. It feels relatable in a peculiar way. I enjoyed it.

Devastatingly Relatable

This was my first introduction to the author and I’m pleasantly surprised. This reads like a memoir of my own similar experiences, and although I thought I knew how I wanted this to end, I am relieved that this isn’t a fairytale novella. The author writes from the heart, seemingly, from experience and I binged this book in a day. Totally addicted :)

Good thing it was free

No character, well, except for the author’s mother, was likable. Early in the work, the author makes a comment that her editor “fell in love with Finn.”’ For the life of me I cannot fathom what the editor is thinking...there is little redeeming qualities in either Finn or Chloe - relative to their dysfunctional affair - which made this work, for me anyway, a complete waste of two and a half hours.

Lesbian/ NOT!

For a long time I've thought that Audible needed a lesbian editor, a real one, not the kind that would publish drivel like this book.
The thing that bothers me the most about this book is that the author failed to use any resources that would have been easily available to her. In any online search about lesbian poets she could have come up with Adrian Rich, Audrey Lorde or Judy Grahn. There is so much rich culture for today's lesbians and bi gals. There are festivals, music and art, support groups yet she failed to avail herself of any of it.
This book doesn't even describe lesbian sex, just fucking and abuse. The writer seems too lazy to even try to explore.
Lesbians, do not waist your time!

Yes. Listen to this one.

This was good.
Very good.
Lauren Fortgang was fantastic.

Relatable. Real. Happy. Sad. Tortured and ultimately a survivor.

Great novella, okay narration

I absolutely adore this novella. It brings to the surface something that everyone goes through in some way and helped me come to grips with my own heartbreak. Caldwell pulls you though the character’s worst moments fabulously. As for the narration, I wish the narrator had evoked more of the emotion I felt when reading the story. Unfortunately, the narrator didn’t convey that heart wrenching feeling Caldwell illustrates so precisely with her words.
