Jack entdeckt ein Wolfsjunges, das in eine Falle gerät und von Indianern befreit wird. Die Indianer nehmen das Wolfsjunge mit, geben ihm den Namen Wolfsblut und ziehen es wie einen Hund auf. Im Frühjahr trifft Jack wieder auf Wolfsblut und muss entsetzt mitansehen, wie er an Hundekämpfen teilnehmen muss. Er kann das schwer verletzte Tier gerade noch mitnehmen und gesund pflegen. Doch die Hundequäler sind ihm schon wieder auf den Fersen...
