Summary
One night, Callum is driven into the woods by instinct - an instinct to protect. In the form of wolf, he meets a young human child who he is instantly drawn to in a fierce way he doesn't quite understand.
Sonia Arlington has lived a lonely life. She has certain abilities that make her strange and she has a rare disease that, if untreated, could kill her. Her father makes her vow that she will never let others discover her abilities. This forces Sonia to stay distant, always guarding against exposure.
Intelligence leaks that Sonia is Callum's human mate. He is now King of the Werewolves and has war on his hands. He's forced to claim his mate and integrate Sonia into a world that is strange and frightening.
As Sonia attempts to adjust, Callum attempts to cope with the knowledge that his mate is mortal. He will have her beauty and gentleness only the length of a mortal life, making their union unbearably bitter, even as Sonia makes it unbelievably sweet.

Mixed Speeds
My first thought is that Lucien in book 1 was like a slow aching burn that lead to intense satisfaction and Callum on the other hand is more like the fast and furious. HIs style is very primal, to say the least. This relates to their relationships with their women. I really liked this book. The story was compelling, especially since I knew it was part of a bigger story, so some of the little things did not bother me as much. I have to say I enjoyed this narrator so much better than the one that read book1. NO constant whispering in this one! Hallelujah. Be warned, Callum is full on Alpha Male and exerts his 'highness' on a consistent basis with his preconceived mate and pretty much everyone else. On the other hand Sonia is utterly submissive for most of the story, to the point of frustration. K.A. Has a habit of building her female characters up to a point of being strong, instead of having them start out strong. She does this often. Still not used to it. Wish she would stray from this every now and then.

Not quite as good as #1
I don't know exactly why, but I didn't enjoy this book as much as the first one. For one thing, it was pretty predictable. In addition, the Hero and Heroine were in conflict for too much of the book, for my taste. I found myself getting impatient for a resolution. I guess I was hoping for more focus on the details of the prophecy and the plans for the upcoming war. It wasn't a bad book, just dragged a bit. I'm still ready for book #3 , however.
The narration was excellent, which is no surprise from Ms Blume. On to #3.

Great
Read this a couple years ago so I knew it would be great but you gotta love that Stella Bloom narration! She made it even better! She can do an alpha male voice that is all that and then transition into a delicate female voice that is sweet without sounding fake. I just love her and hope Kristen continues to select her for projects. Not much room to improve on Kristen Ashley but Stella may be one narrator worthy of putting a cherry on top of of her writing. You go girls!!!

KRISTEN ASHLEY.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU
Firstly, let me start by saying that I'm in awe of Stella Bloom's narrating abilities... no matter the gender, the various accents or the range of emotions called for - Stella nails it all and delivers a worthy 5 star performance every single time. Now to the actual book... wow - another outstanding addition to this wonderfully intriguing, well written, drama-filled and ingeniously created paranormal romance.
Callum, the handsome King of the Werewolves really doesn't have time to claim his prophesied mortal mate because he's fighting enemies within the Werewolf community - however, his destined mate's life is in danger so he has no choice. His mate Sonia is oblivious to the paranormal world and right now Callum wants to keep it that way so what develops is a bed of intricately woven secrets and lies... but the one thing that Callum must do without delay is to 'claim' his mate.
Sonia thinks she's been kidnapped by a misguided leader of a secret pact - he's hot, sexy and the sexual tension leaves her breathless... but nevertheless he's delusional, bossy, all alpha and arrogant too so the sooner she can escape the better. Sonia has heightened abilities and she thinks getting away will be easy - but she has no idea (and won't for some time) just who and what she's up against.
This was such an addictive and captivating dual POV story as these two characters bickered, fought, fell out with each other, had frenzied lust-driven sex, verbally sparred with one other, laughed together, played together and slowly grew to love one another deeply. But it wasn't without drama and angst filled pitfalls along the way because there had to be much needed character growth as well as understanding and acceptance during certain challenges so they can join Lucien and Leah in fulfilling the Prophesy as another couple in the 'Three' are now prepared to face their destinies and go to War.
Worth a credit? There was a certain mysterious 'condition' that Sonia suffered from which was predictable... however, there were a few surprises and twists to it that totally blindsided me. And, regardless of that predictability, this is still an awesome creative and imaginative story packed full of loveable characters. The romance became so intense, tender, passionate and lovingly intimate that it surpassed all my high hopes and expectations. So creditworthy?... Hell YEAH.... and I'm eager and excited to get to the third couple... and the anticipated War.

4.5 With Everything I Am
Ok so I wasn't sure about this book going in because I wasn't a fan of book one. But being as I am a die-hard KA fan, I pushed through and holy freaking YES, I am soooo glad I did because this book was awesome.
I love me some vampires but this book shoved werewolves in to my heart. I loved Sonia & Callum together oh my gosh they were awesome.
Again I am no here to re do the synopsis. I will tell you Sonia is human but she is on the fringes of a world she is about to get up close and personal with.
Callum is hella hot, and so alpha without being the douche Lucien was in his book. I also really enjoyed the fact that even though Callum isn't a human fan, he really made the effort for Sonia. His previous prejudices didn't factor to him.
Their story is something will swoon over for a long time to come. They were meant to be in all senses of the phrase. Loved it.
Loved Stella Bloom’s performance with this book 100x yes its Worthing a credit it’s worth it all.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

The heat is on with this one!! 🐺
Any additional comments?
Calum & Sonyia's story is explosive. This dirty talking alpha Wolf oozes sex appeal. The heat between the character's was fast and fierce. This is my favorite couple so far.. And Stella Bloom's narration took the sexcapades into OMG HOT territory.
This was so worthy of my credit!! A war is still waging on in the next installment trying to find the 3rd couple needed to fulfill the prophecy. I'm anxious to spend another credit and devour Wild and Free to see how this action packed battle to save the world will end.

Her stupidity got seriously irritating. He treats her like a queen yet she thinks he will is faking it all? Then why does he treat her so well in private and why does he call her baby doll? I understand there needs to be some drama but this dragged on way too long!

Amazing Book 2!!!!
Loved this, I liked Until the Stars Fall From the Sky quite well with Lucien and Leah, but I find this one is a step above.... Callum and Sonia have the usual angst but for some reason are very compelling. I like the narration, and the dialogue. Some would say it's a little long but i like it, and may listen again. Looking forward to the third book in the Trilogy, Wild and Free.
