One hundred years ago, a sheriff's posse killed dark warlock Rhyfel Gremory, but his witch-disciples escaped, and their magic made them nearly immortal. Medium and clairvoyant Simon Kincaide owns a Myrtle Beach boardwalk shop where he runs ghost tours, holds seances, and offers private psychic readings, making a fresh start after his abilities cost him his lover and his job as a folklore professor. Jaded cop Vic D'Amato saw something supernatural he couldn't explain during a shootout several years ago in Pittsburgh and relocated to Myrtle Beach to leave the past behind, still skeptical about the paranormal. Story
Though I was born with the ability to see the dead, I struggled with it until my brother was killed and his ghost was left behind. Now, I’m determined to figure out who is responsible for his death…the problem is that Detective Maddox Booker, the one working the case, is a grumpy and stubborn man who wants nothing to do with me and definitely doesn’t believe in ghosts. It doesn’t help that I keep finding myself looking ridiculous in front of the detective, thanks to interfering ghosts who enjoy laughing at my expense.

My whole life, I’ve been taught to despise shifters. So when I’m hired to track two escaped convicts, I’m suddenly thrust into the world I hate - or thought I did. Yet I’m inexplicably drawn to the alpha of the pack, whose land the convicts may be hiding on. He’s different than any shifter I've ever met - laidback and quick to laugh, caring, and protective. As secrets are revealed, I start to wonder if everything I’ve been raised to believe was a lie, though it may not matter, because it seems like someone wants us dead.

Smart men never dabble with demons. I never claimed to be smart, but at least, I’m powerful enough to control them. When I bound Havoc to me nearly 300 years ago, I never realized how difficult he’d make my life, although “accidentally” lighting him on fire every now and then does bring a smile to my face. Havoc is handsome, mysterious, and somehow, my closest companion, even if we don’t always get along.

Yes!
Really enjoyed this one! It was a bit of a gamble as both the author and the narrator were unknowns for me. I liked the sound of the blurb and thought I'd give it a go.
The story was really good, I want looking for something heavy and over the top angst ridden as I've just read one of those, so this fits the bill nicely, the two CMs are well put together, there have their issues but they aren't laid on so thick it draws you away from premier of the story. Some reviews I've read said that it was predictable and a cliche but I don't agee. I loved it! I routed for Seth & Evan, enjoyed their journey and have just happily bought book 2 😊
Kale Williams is a narrator who i will definitely search for in the future. A good range of voices, the female voices were handled well and he was very expressive, I felt he showed the emotions of each character well.
Definitely a recommendation 💝

A bit disappointing
The narration was very good, with each character having a distinctive voice. And very nicely paced. The plot line was okay, but far too much time spent on sex scenes as opposed to developing the background of the world world, the plot and the various characters. The bad guys in particular were just sketches.

Entertainingly paranormal
This is a book that is full of Ghosts, warlocks, magic and human goons. If this is not your thing then it's not the book for you.
This book begins with the brutal murder of Jessie, Seth's younger brother and this book doesn't shy away from giving you some of the gritty-ness of this.
Seth wants vengeance and to keep the next victim safe.
Jackson doesn't know what to believe.
The chemistry and sexy times are so hot this book is NOT intended for anyone under 18. I loved this book and hope that we see more of these two, the action and drama although quite dark is offset by the sexiness of their relationship making this a fantastic story.
Having listened to the audible. It was well done and the narration by Kale Williams, did well to bring the action to life. I enjoyed reading the book and found the audio file to be as enjoyable. The audible added a depth to the angst and fear felt by the characters, as the action of evading dark witchcraft and falling in love. This is very well done.

Lots of Drama
The story was all right when it came to the mystery plot but tanked in the romance department. The relationship drama got to be too much and I was rolling my eyes so hard because these guys only knew each other for a couple of days. I did not like Evan. His inner thoughts and hostility was over the top, leading to his to stupid to live decision. This series is not for me and I will not be continuing.

Too stupid to live
I normally love Morgan Brice/Gail Z. Martin, but I despise books with characters who are too stupid to live, and unfortunately, this is one of them.
When a character knows for certain that they’re in mortal danger, but then willfully leaves their brain at the door FOR NO REASON, I stop caring about them at all, and start cheering for the villain. This is especially true when another character that I love is working his butt off and risking his own life multiple times trying to keep the ungrateful moron alive, and yet Idiotface is actively suspicious of him, while being RIDICULOUSLY trusting towards the guy who wants to use him as a human sacrifice.
Add in Kale Williams’ generally good reading but incredibly awkward sex scenes, and I couldn’t finish this one.
Give this series a pass, and try the Badlands series instead!

MMy Thoughts and Review:
In researching this series I noticed a theme among reviewers...the beginning held a “Supernatural” vibe. However, one has only to briefly scan the blurb to know that is totally where any similarity begins and ends. Please excuse my totally irreverent snicker…
Witchbane held me tight with the warm timbre of Kale Williams' voice giving life to Morgan's characters. My heart went out to Seth, the brother left behind who had turned into a veritable vagabond who lived only to hunt the monsters that had killed his brother and taken away his life.
Evan is hiding from a stalker ex, to the point of having changed his name and moved to a new city. He tends bar, and goes home. Keeping life simple and living under the radar are his only desires at the moment. He never knew meeting Seth Tanner would be the best worst thing that would happen to his boring life. Or that he would end up saving Evan and Evan would end up saving him right back…
I'm super thrilled to start this new journey with Morgan's Witchbane Series. I am very much looking forward to all the stops Seth's RV will make along the way.

gay supernatural... so yeah...
like I said gay supernatural. brotheresqu characters with the personalities of a scooby doo villain of the week. while I'm not a fan of sex scenes every five or so minutes I will admit they were written better than most. wasn't really a fan of evan. I hope he's a better character in the next book. there were a few spots of continuity and a bit too much foreshadowing of who the villains were but overall not a bad book.

Good story. Good narration.
This story is another one of increasingly more common urban fantasy series that sets a team on a quest to hunt monsters that are harming unsuspecting folks.
The characters are engaging, the setting is decent, the plot has some interesting developments, and the romance is steamy.
I would like to see some more vivid descriptions of scenery, monsters, and fights. One of the perks of writing urban fantasy stories is the opportunity to show the reader something new or unique. This is just the first book so I hope the author takes advantage of this opportunity more in the rest of the series because I like the descriptions of regular urban settings.
Kale Williams adds some flavor to the story with his narration, and I look forward t listening to the entire series.

Same story, with a bit of a tweak
OK guys so I just discovered this author this week. I read two books in the Badlands series and noticed that there were a few issues with keeping up with the timelines and usage errors and repetitions. I never heard of a Hayabusa motorcycle before I read that series. So now I’m looking for something else by this author and I found this book and what do you know? This protagonist also rides a Hayabusa. This one also finds it Ideal that he and his hook up potential are only a few inches apart which is perfect, coincidentally the same exact thing the other protagonist said in the other book. In the other books the protagonist was a medium, in this book all the sudden now he’s a shaman. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult to keep up with these details. Especially given that it’s not right or miss is some thing then the editor should catch it. Oh rider is not only supposed to be a good storyteller but should also travel or at least read about travel and have varying interests. Readers don’t want to read about characters who all have the same interests. Why don’t you Mr. Bryce have a character who rides a Yamaha, crotch rocket, rice rocket? Even if you personally don’t like those types of motorcycles Make your characters like them. If you’re just writing to make money and if these stories are selling then don’t change anything. Just remember now with self publishing there are many, many books out there and discerning readers will move on to more original and varied stories. I myself have not been impressed with this book and probably won’t read anymore. If you’re open to constructive feedback, I would recommend finding new beta readers and maybe get a better editor. I commented on the last series that instead of saying “he said an incantation“ it would be nice if you would actually take some time to create the words of a spell. Take a few more minutes and get the details right. Every time you mentioned the protagonist putting his cell phone on the night table before going to bed you never mentioned that they actually plugged in the cell phone to charge. Anyway good luck I hope you do well and maybe I’ll read these comments and take them for the constructive feedback they’re meant to be. If you see typos or errors in this review, don’t just chalk it up to someone who’s trying to tear you down; I’m visually impaired and I have to dictate and there’s no easy way To review my input. Thank you
