Not the greatest Catherine Alliott book.

Disappointing, storyline is weak and very predictable.
If you are looking for an easy listen without concentrating too much, this is for you. If you require something substantial with realistic story lines them give this a miss.

Not a book I warmed to

Sorry to say but....I didnt really warm to the main character in this book! Maybe because...The narrator was too efficient and almost always sounded stroppy!
The story didnt blend well for me either!

Boring

How this book became a number one bestseller is completely beyond me. Drippy characters, no real depth to the plot, couldn't be bothered to finish.

Did not enjoy as much

I nearly gave up... annoying reader too, funny way to pronounce her 's' 🙄 like she had a speech impediment. The story is nit that good. Picked up at one point, to then becoming predictable and full if unnecessary sub-stories

An absolute MUST read for any fan of Catherine Alliott or this genre

I was completely captured from the very beginning of this book. A very honest and amusing tale of family life and the inevitable twists and turns.
Would love a sequel do we can discover what happens next !

Such a lovely listen.

Having just cancelled another holiday this year, this book was a perfect treat. About a family, with assorted friends and extended family members who decamp to France for the Summer, being lent a gorgeous home in Provence, the story had me laughing and sighing with joy.

I enjoy this author's books. There's always a bit of a back story, but nothing to arduous. Narrator is excellent.

It's a thoroughly lovely bit of escapism. Description of the countryside, and food transports you there. All the characters are likeable.

Far too long

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I'd take out half the adjectives . "Glorious" is certainly very overused .

What was most disappointing about Catherine Alliott’s story?

It started off well but sagged in the middle .

Have you listened to any of Julia Franklin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Very easy to listen to .

Was Wish You Were Here worth the listening time?

Most of it .

A disappointment

I always look forward to another book from this author. This one, however, was below average. The story line is thin without compensating charm, the characters annoying, and the narration breathy. Two stars because I made it to the end. I would skip this one.
