Summary

Snow is falling, cookies are baking, and Christmas is just around the corner in Willow Ridge, Missouri, where a new season marks fresh beginnings for the residents of the tranquil Amish town.

As another year draws to a close in Willow Ridge, life seems to be changing for everyone but Rhoda Lantz. Her widowed mother is about to remarry, her sister is a busy newlywed, and soon Rhoda will be alone in her cozy apartment above the blacksmith's shop. An ad posted by an Englisher looking for someone to help with his mother and children may offer just the companionships he's looking for - but if she falls for the caring single father, she may risk being shunned by her community. Certain she can only wish for things she cannot have, Rhoda must remember that all things are possible with God, and nothing is stronger than the power of love.

GREAT BOOK!

This is my favorite so far of the first three in the series. This is such an amazing series, I find myself anxiously awaiting my lunch break at work to get a few more minutes in. This particular book had me listening every chance I got-getting ready for work, in the car traveling, lunchbreak, travel home, all evening, and while I fell asleep with the sleep timer on. I am so thrilled with this series, I wish it would never end. This sweet story speaks of the fact that God really can do more than we could ask or think. It has taught me strong lessons about my own life, made me see things from a different angle, and was very timely. God’s perfect timing, as always. Can’t praise this author enough.

a peek into amish culture

a cute story that I could listen to w my kids around. kindof a novel-sized tract to convert to amish lol (im not mad) but it seemed like a strong mechanic of the story.

Not for me

I know Amish Romances are very popular so I decided to try it but this is not for me. I know it’s a cultural difference and I tried to be understanding but I felt like the treatment of women is awful. A kiss should not be such a big deal ever. Just not for me. Some situation felt too perfect, other too awful. No more Amish romance for me. The narration was pretty good and had believable accents and different voices for the characters so that was a plus.

Even better than the first two novels in the series!

The first book is this series was already exceptional. Yet I found this third novel to be even better. It has all the wonderful qualities of the first two novels. Yet the complex situations individual characters and the community as a whole had to work out among themselves made for fascinating reading, not to mention a very special romance. The unexpected turns in the plot made Winter of Wishes a real page turner as well! :)

P.S. Although I found this novel to be the best so far doesn’t mean I’m saying to skip right to this one if you haven’t read the first two. They really need to be read in order to fully appreciate each one.

Another good one

Excellent performance of a good book. As usual Susan Boyce brought another Charlotte Hubbard's books to life.
