About the Narrator
Ell Potter is in her final year at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). She has appeared in the school’s productions of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, playing Helena, and New England, playing Alice Berry. She is also a writer and comedian, and in 2018 took her two-woman show HOTTER to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where it enjoyed a sellout run and was named an Evening Standard Best New Writing of 2018. It has since secured a transfer to the prestigious Soho Theatre. She has been entered for the 2019 Carleton Hobbs BBC radio drama competition. Ell has devoured audiobooks for as long as she can remember, growing up on Harry Potter and His Dark Materials during long car journeys. Winter Dark is her first audiobook.
Meet the author of Winter Dark
Alex Callister is the pseudonym of an industry expert on media, telecoms and internet stocks. She studied history at Oxford and the British School at Rome and was set for a career in academia until the beginning of the tech boom woke a lifelong interest in internet shares. Alex has spent her career visiting high security web hosting sites and speculating on what might go wrong. Winter Dark is her debut novel and the first in the Winter series.More from the same

Seamless narration and a realistic heroine
Superb narration, really nailing each character. Was interested to hear the actor 's process in the interview after the book.All that prep work certainly paid off.
Great story with a modern protagonist who doesn't require pigeonholing. She is just brilliant. Looking forward to the next book!

Good
I enjoyed it and it was well read too by Ell. However it felt a bit like the main character was a cross between The Girl with the dragon tattoo and James Bond on steroids, and the ending was a bit of a cliche. It was enjoyable though, if you were happy to take it at face value.

Incredible!
This is one of the most compelling stories I've heard in a very long time. It's got some great twists, Winter is an extremely strong and complex character who is smart and skilled and utterly fearless. The narration was really engrossing and held me spellbound! I have pre-ordered the sequel and can't wait to adventure with her more.

blown away!
I was blown away by how thrilling and entertaining this book was. It's one of thos e books you can read/listen to just a week after already having heard it. Absolutely loved the book and I want my own Dark prince now.

Totally engaging sexy modern spy thriller
You know an audio book is going well when you keep volunteering to do the driving errands, so you can gulp up a couple more chapters, and this was exactly that type of book - fast paced plot, really likeable modern female lead, atmospheric locations, and some great twists. I even found myself taking headphones on the supermarket run so I could keep listening, although be warned, if you decide to do this, you may find yourself blushing mid-aisle - the sex scenes are may not be graphic but they are certainly imaginative and definitely *ahem* .. steamy. With this in mind, maybe opt for a different book when your mum or kids are in the car with you 😁From a production viewpoint, narration was great, and Ell did a great job with the accents, and in bringing the lead characters. If you’re looking to compare it to something you’ve enjoyed before, then Winter Dark is akin to a sexy/edgy/feminine Jack Reacher. I really recommend it.

James Bond but sexier. Steig Larsson watch out!!
I love this book!! It was a brilliant companion on my trip to New York!!
I love the action and genre and the heroine. She is so cool. It is so James Bond but sexier and better.
I really think it will make a sensational film
