Summary

Tristan Gooley, author of the internationally best-selling How to Read Water and The Walker's Guide to Outdoor Clues & Signs, shows how it is possible to achieve a level of outdoors awareness that will enable you to sense direction from stars and plants, forecast weather from woodland sounds and predict the next action of an animal from its body language - instantly.

Although once common, this now rare awareness would be labelled by many as a 'sixth sense'. We have become so distanced from this way of experiencing our environment that it may initially seem hard to believe that it is possible, but Tristan Gooley uses a collection of 'keys' to show how everyone can develop this ability and enjoy the outdoors in an exciting way - one that is both new and ancient.

Smorgasbord of facts

Almost like having a conversation with the author about the wild with snippets of information.

A Good First Foray in to this subject

Great book, lots of info. I felt it kind of lost its way towards the end. Will explore the authors other books for sure. The narration is a bit monotone at times.

What a stunning book

Wow, what can I say? If you love the outdoors and want to be more atuned to whats going on around you, this book is for you. Within a couple of days I was already "seeing south" with my newly developed fast brain (those who've read/listened to it will know what I mean). This is becomong expensive though, I've now bought all the physic books as a reference too!! This amazing treasure trove will switch on skills and knowledge that you never thought possible. Before you know it you'll be "seeing" the outdoors in a whole new perspective. Truly wonderful.

The voice?

I have read and listened to all Tristans books and was really disappointed that he didn't narrate this one. Peter was fine, but always sounded cross and didn't have the humour and detail that I'm used to.

Better than inspirational

Highly readable/listenable in the armchair but, even better, highly practical, useable knowledge to enhance the enjoyment of being outdoors.
