Summary

Everything I want is here, in front of me.

Rusty Campbell left Hart’s Bay after high school to work in the wilderness. Now, he’s back home for one purpose: seaweed farming. To succeed, he’ll need to fight the tide and win over his skeptical family, once burned by the fishing industry collapse. But there are intriguing new faces bringing good fortune to Hart’s Bay, like the captivating redhead who watches him from the art gallery.

Six months after moving to this small town, Ezra Carter’s bed feels empty. Painting and running an art co-op with his friends doesn’t fill the same need. The city boy is seriously considering lowering his standards...until the man of his dreams walks in and throws his no-good hookup out of the bar.

Why does Rusty have to be straight?

Rusty is mystified at the surging chemistry between them, as their friendship grows. Is Ezra the missing piece to the puzzle of Rusty’s love life? As Rusty struggles to make sense of his feelings, he guides Ezra through his home territory to give the artist new inspiration, but he winds up becoming Ezra’s muse himself. Before long, they’re fumbling their way through uncharted waters.

Can their picture-perfect, no-labels relationship weather the storm brewing under their feet?

Wild Hart is the third book in the new Hart’s Bay series about a small town full of nosy but well-meaning neighbors and brotherly banter. It can be listened to on its own and promises a happily ever after ending with plenty of smiles and steam along the way. Just hold on. When the boat's a-rocking, don't come knocking!

Fun and Snarky

Wild Hart definitely has some really fun moments, and some deeply steamy feels. Davies once again takes me to Hart's Bay and leaves me wanting more. Add in Boudreaux's narration and it truly is a great book, even a series, to listen to.

Gay for you troupe...

One of my favorite troupes. Rusty is straight as can be. He meets Ezra and become close friends. Ezra makes it clear how attracted he is to Rusty. What I like about this series is that their characters are clear as water. They don’t hide and even thinking they are straight, they accept their feelings with a fierce determination. I really enjoyed Ezra and Rusty’s romance.

Sweet, Fiesty, and Endearing!

I loved Ezra's story! He and Rusty were perfect together and I loved Ed's approach to Rusty and his personal and sexual discovery!

There is such a spark from the start between these two and I enjoyed the journey to finding themselves and explored their connection. I really enjoyed Rusty's story as he discovered and grew. He really came into himself and grew in confidence and was able to find himself, stand up for himself and find something he never knew he was looking for.

Ezra has always been a favorite of mine and his story didn't disappoint. He has such a big heart and thankfully it ended up being safe with Rusty.

A beautiful story of discovery and growth!

Thanks for reading!

Missed the angst and drama of the first two books

This is a good listen, with sweet, slow burn romance and connection, but it didn't have the same angst and drama as the first two books. I missed that, and I was a little bored in parts of it. The *drama* here is mostly a gay man trying to decide if he should take a risk on a questioning straight man, and said *straight* man deciding if he is truly straight. It's a good gay-for-you story, but light on angst beyond those personal decisions. There is a little drama and suspense related to a boating near mishap, but only for a chapter or two. The sex, when it happens is sweet and hot, but it's a long time coming as the characters work to figure out what they want.

The narration by Greg Boudreaux was strong with distinct voices for each character and good showing of emotion.

I received a complementary copy of this audiobook through the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.

Hart Warming ❤️

I loved Ezra and Rusty’s story. They are absolutely adorable together.
Wild Hart is a slow burn romance and it was beautiful watching these two men fall in love with each other.
Greg Boudreaux as always brings passion and life to each of the characters taking this book to a different level.

Arty boy and the Seaweed Farmer

This was an interesting addition to the Hart's Bay series by Ed Davies, the third book and I look forward to more as there are several guys in the house Ezra shares who are still currently unattached.
Rusty is a good guy who comes to Ezra's rescue when a Grindr hook-up turns out to be a not-so-nice guy. However, Rusty always considered himself to be straight and that is also Ezra's initial impression of him, but as their friendship develops into something more, he finds himself questioning why all his attempts at relationships with women have failed. He also finds himself wanting the sweet artist all to himself in ways that he previously thought he shouldn't. A nice friends to lovers and gay for you story. Highly recommended Contemporary MM romance.

Sweet story

This was a very nice story. I liked both Rusty and Ezra, both troubled by their past and hang ups, but building something special. It was fast paced, sweet and hot. I loved Greg Boudreaux's narration as it really does the story justice and brings everyone to life. Can't wait to listen to the next book

Best yet

This was probably my favorite of the series. While it didn't have a tie-in to Hart's Bay like the other two, the characters were both interesting and fun.

Rusty had grown up in Hart's Bay and left to learn about seaweed farming. Now he's back, starting a business, and noticing men for the first time ever.

Ezra is the painter of the group that moved into Hart's Bay to open a gallery in the square. He's flamboyant and flirty, looking for love in all the wrong apps. Until he meets straight Rusty.

They both work hard to fight their feelings, until they finally let fate decide. It's a sweet, tender story with a lot of self sacrifice, reflection, and love.

Greg Boudreaux was brilliant and he was able to wow me with his Scottish accent, which was fun!

The most angsty book in the series

I loved this book and this series! This is, however, the most serious and in places heartwrenching of the three books. Ezra is a lovely man who lets fear rule his life, who settles for lousy Grindr hookups because he lacks a true feeling of self worth, even though he is a wonderful painter and he longs for security and a lifetime relationship. Rusty, the "straight" guy who rescues Ezra from a slezy date, is instantly attracted to Ezra but can't understand why his feelings for a man are suddenly so strong. They eventually begin a full-time exclusive and sexual relationship but Ezra fears Rusty just thinks of him as an "experiment" and Rusty has no clue how fearful Ezra is of being abandoned after losing his heart. They both dance around 100% honesty until they nearly lose the relationship and one endangers his life. Their talks at the end ensure a happy ever after and the ending is pure romance. I really liked these two guys from the start and I ached for them as they struggled toward each other. Greg Boudreaux just gets better and better with this series. Here you feel everything these two feel and sometimes I had to pause a bit and let the emotions die off a bit. Superb author matches with perfect, superb narrator.

Such a sweet story!

I've enjoyed all three books in this series. Ezra and Rusty are very sweet and mostly unafraid to go after what they want. I enjoy seeing past characters make an appearance. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone, but why not enjoy it as part of the series? I'm looking forward to more books in this series!

You tangle and capture my heart like seaweed

I think E. Davies and Greg Boudreaux duo really works well. I have loved all of their previous works and this one was no exception. Small town romances are the sweetest.

Rusty has always thought he’s straight. However his views were completely changed when he was captured by a red-haired artist when he came back to his hometown to become a seaweed farmer. Ezra is a bit quirky and a lot artistic. And now the artist is bored and has lost his muse. That is also until he met Rusty Campbell who so happens to be his type who’s also straight. Or so he says. Two men, two yearning hearts and one small town, destiny awaits!

As always, it was low-angst, steamy and amusing. I really like Ezra’s character because of his uniqueness. He’s a bit insecure and wounded because of his past but he’s a very lovable character. And Rusty, thank god he’s not one of those stereotypes who absolutely refuses to be labeled. I’m really looking forward to the next book in the series since it’s going to be Aaron’s! As always, Greg did a phenomenal job narrating this story. Could t get enough of his performance! 😍

Fun read

Ezra was a fun character and Rusty's career was fascinating. The relationship developing from a friendship was sweet. I liked the way Rusty's understanding of his sexuality grew in this book. Excited to read more about the art coop in Hart's Bay.

A fun and flirty listen

This is the third book of this series, and I absolutely love it. It is the first story to have characters that are not directly related to the Hart family. There is a connection between Rusty and Hart's Bay, because he grew up there until he graduated high school. Plus, his parents still hold a grudge due to losing their jobs when the fishing plant shut down. Ezra moved to the area about six months prior, I believe, to avoid relationships and start an art co-op with his friends.

But, Ezra is getting antsy with an empty bed. He's obviously been hurt before, but he is ready to start moving forward. He has spotted the man of his dreams, but he's straight, so hook-ups it will be... until Rusty sees one being disrespectful, and just throws him out!

Now, Rusty has always dated women, but it never feels right or works out. He's always assumed he was straight, but the way he is feeling around the feisty red head is making him question his assumptions. Ezra has told him he is in need of inspiration, so Rusty decides to combine his new business and some fun to show him a few new sights.

There are some insecurities, as Ezra is not the outdoorsy type at all, but he puts his all into doing the things Rusty likes. Rusty just enjoys Ezra's flirting and willingness to avoid labels so they can see what happens.

There are a few exciting and/or dangerous happenings which break up the story nicely. But, overall, this is mostly a fun, flirtatious, friends to lovers romance. Some might call it a GFY, but I'm not sure I would. Rusty's not into labels. And, of course, our MCs get their happily ever after.

As always, the ever-talented Greg Boudreaux worked his magic with the narration. The characters are well differentiated, and the pacing is smooth and easy to listen to. Ezra was a quirky flirt, and Rusty was a down to earth guy.

Happy listening!
