Story
Brinkley Springs is a quiet little town. Some say the town is dying. They don't know how right they are. Five mysterious figures are about to pay a little visit to Brinkley Springs. They have existed for centuries, emerging from the shadows only to destroy, to kill. To feed. They bring with them terror and carnage, and leave death and blood in their wake. As the night wears on, Brinkley Springs will be quiet no longer. Screams will break the silence. But when the sun rises again, will there be anyone left to hear?

Story
The night uncovers all we wish not to see. A troubled man enters a dusky park before sunset. A young woman follows, hidden in shadow. Both have returned to the park to take back something the past has stolen from them, to make right six long years of suffering, and to find justice or perhaps redemption - or maybe they'll settle for some old-fashioned revenge. But something evil is alive and awake in those woods, creatures that care nothing for human motivations. They’re driven by their own insatiable need: a ravenous, bottomless hunger.

Story
The Norfolk coast made for a perfect holiday - as long as the sun still shone. But when the rain came, the creatures left the shadows. Spectres from the past tortured James Hildebrand's mind. His blackest nightmares were crowded with malevolent, coiling images of decay. Then, suddenly, he knew the threat was real. The dead alone could not quench their hunger. And, for the living, the horrors that fed and multiplied in the darkness of the night became more terrible with the dawn.

Story
Editors Randy Chandler and Cheryl Mullenax put the call out to horror writers and editors of extreme stories, the hardcore stuff that breaks boundaries and trashes taboos, the transgressive tales you can't "unread" (as Chuck Palahniuk says). Some of the stories you'll find here are loaded with very graphic descriptions of violence, sex, and depravities, while others may contain only one shocking moment of brutality. In others, the hardcore aspect may be less graphic and subtler than you might expect.

Pierce the curtain of reality into a world of the bizarre and the macabre: a midnight realm of the creaking footsteps on the stairs, of the pale visage in the dark, and of the tingling shivers down your spine.
Summary
“This is a bad place. I don't think people are meant to live here.”
Longtime residents of Harper's Cove believe that something is wrong with the Widow's Point Lighthouse. Some say it's cursed. Others claim it's haunted.
Originally built in 1838, three workers were killed during the lighthouse's construction including one who mysteriously plunged to his death from the catwalk. That tragic accident was never explained, and it was just the beginning of the terror.
In the decades that followed, nearly two dozen additional deaths occurred in or around the lighthouse including cold-blooded murder, suicide, unexplained accidents, disappearances, the slaughter of an entire family, and the inexplicable death of a Hollywood starlet who was filming a movie on the grounds. The lighthouse was finally shuttered tight in 1988, and a security fence was erected around the property. No one has been inside since. Until tonight.
Thomas Livingston is the acclaimed author of 13 books about the supernatural, and, this evening, he will enter the Widow's Point Lighthouse searching for material for his next best-seller. He will be locked inside for the weekend with no way of contacting the outside world. And, although no human has stepped foot inside the structure in nearly three decades, Livingston will not be alone.
In this remarkable collaboration, father-and-son writing team Richard and Billy Chizmar combine forces to tell a chilling ghost story that will make you think twice about what is waiting for you in the dark.

Glad I messed up and already purchased this: Natrator
I just got done with the authors collection of short stories which included this particular one. I’ve then heard an interview that he was going to perhaps do a pre and post-quel to the the original story. *That’s what I thought I was doing when I made this purchase.
I didn’t realize I was buying the standalone version of the story I already heard. But in this case I’m glad because I don’t think I could’ve listened to the narrators voice for almost 3 hours. I listen to a lot of audiobooks, and there have been some narrators I have liked and others I tolerated. And I’m not trying to be mean, but I finally have come across a narrator I absolutely can’t listen to.
I can’t quite put my finger on it: the narrator over annunciates every word or will take a word and put a strong emphasis on part of the word…Not some words but every word. (Like an extreme version of a 40s-50s radio dramatic announcer). And this isn’t some of the time but all of the time. Every sentence.
I can understand doing that from time to time when you’re trying to build suspense or to convey intensity. But that’s not what this is. It even happens when the situation might be describing the soft green grass or a blue sky. (Things that don’t need to be dramatically stated, get stated that way anyway). Who knows maybe subconsciously he approaches the microphone with a I’ve got a good baritone voice and I’m going to use it; wait till they hear this! I dunno.
I think I’ve left two reviews since I’ve been listening to audiobooks for the last five years or so. I’m starting to enjoy the author (looking for someone Stephen King’ish) and am just now getting into his works. So even though I wasted a credit buying the same thing twice at least I don’t have to listen to it now from this narrator.

Really good
I really enjoyed this scary book. It kept me engaged and wanting more. I could see this being turned into a really good movie. I even thought the ending was good. With that being said, I am not a huge fan of the narrator. For the most part he does a good job, as usual, but sometimes his voice and manner are overpowering. All in all it does not take away from this book and I recommend it.
