Summary

After a corpse wearing pince-nez glasses is found in a bathtub, Lord Peter Wimsey undertakes the case and investigates the deed privately. But determining whether the corpse belongs to a well-known banker or a group of mischief-making medical students is just the beginning of this tangled mystery plot.

This atmospheric novel put Dorothy L. Sayers in the ranks with Agatha Christie as a mystery writer nonpareil.

Great Narration

I've been waiting years for Audible to ditch the last lot of Dorothy L Sayers mysteries, badly performed by a woeful narrator, and start afresh. This new offering is such an improvement on what was previously available. Mark Meadows gives an intelligent and glorious reading of 'Whose Body?'. Please, please can you get him to do all the other Lord Peter Wimsey books.

More Sayers by Mark Meadows PLEASE!

What a relief! A Lord Peter mystery that allows you to appreciate the quality of Sayers writing. I tried to grin and bear it listening to Gaudy Night read by Jane McDowell, but I gave up in the end. Her reading turned an excellent book in a trial by hearing.
As this version was only released early this year, I am hoping that it will lead more VERY SOON!
Mark Meadows gave the story life, he gave the characters voices and I enjoyed it to the very end.
THANK YOU

Excellent audiobook

Over the last few years I had stopped purchasing Dorothy L Sayers audiobooks as the narrator was so dreadful but the new narrator, Mark Meadows, is brilliant and I hope he will be recording more of the series. Fingers crossed!

AT LAST, A NARRATION THATS CLOSE TO IAN CARMICHAEL

Mark Meadows has an excellent English accent and reading manner, and has used a verbal style quite similar to the classic rendition of Ian Carmichael from the late 1970s or early 1980s. I will happily pursue the rest of Dreamscape's audio publications of Lord Peter Wimsey. Possibly the BBC will rerelease Ian Carmichael's full-length narrations (they bought Chivers Audio who have the copyright) in time for the 100th anniversary of Whose Body in 2023, but at present its looking very unlikely. Mr Meadows' reading will be greatly appreciated by all of Dorothy L Sayers's fans who have been irked by less competent readings.

Golden Age of Detection Gem.

About time - a narration with an appropriate Oxbridge accent (as well as all the others). A joy to listen to such a classic story read with skill and humour. I hope Mark Meadows goes on to read more Sayers.

One of Dorothy Sayers finest!

Excellent 'golden age' crime novel, played most satisfyingly by all the rules.
A period gem, well read!

A pleasant lightweight listen

A long time ago we used to watch these books transformed for telly. They were always enjoyable then and so I thought I would see what a narrator could do with one. Yes I enjoyed it and as I didn't have to concentrate much could do other things at the same time. I shall buy some more similar titles.

The Wait is Over

FINALLY, audible give us a new version of Lord Peter Wimsey with a MALE narrator. Mark Meadows did an excellent job. It's Dorothy L Sayers, what's not to like. Looking forward to collect the rest of the titles in this series.

Superb Narration!!

I love the Lord Peter Whimsy books narrated by Ian Carmichael, so much so that I didn’t think anyone else would do the books justice. However, Mark Meadow’s narration is beyond excellent and makes the book a very entertaining listen!
