Summary

Elliot's mum is ill and his home is under threat, but a shooting star crashes to earth and changes his life forever. The star is Virgo - a young Zodiac goddess on a mission. But the pair accidentally release Thanatos, a wicked death daemon imprisoned beneath Stonehenge, and must then turn to the old Olympian gods for help. After centuries of cushy retirement on earth, are Zeus and his crew up to the task of saving the world - and solving Elliot's problems too?

Great Book!

Love the idea of Gods experiencing the modern world! Both my children enjoyed this story, aged 8 & 11. Looking forward to the rest of the series!

Smart and funny

Absolutely loved this one and the series goes from strength to strength with each book. The story gallops along and the cast of characters are all well fleshed out and generally hilarious. It is littered with puns, references and ingenious world building. Great narration and voices too. As a rule I dislike authors on Audible reading their own stories as good performance is a separate skill. This, however, is a solid exception. Maz Evans has a real talent for the different voices which is further enhanced by her knowing exactly how she wants everything paced and emphasised.
Definitely recommended and I defy you not to listen and immediately go and download the sequels.

Imaginative tale of a young hero & the Greek gods

An imaginative, funny, well-written tale of young Elliot as he struggles with keeping his unwell mum's illness a secret, his home going despite mounting debt, his greedy neighbour at arm's legnth, and life with the Greek gods.

The gods may not be the selfish, vindictive creatures I learned about in school (well, not all of them) but they are a witty and carefully created cast that bring the story to life with a touch of magic. And Elliot is the young hero we've needed since Harry Potter opted for a quieter life.

The book is brought to life by Evans' creatively, attention to detail and sense of humour. She may have created it for someone my nephew's year 7 age, but as a 40 something, I thoroughly enjoyed it and had some lol moments.

The author narrates the book brilliantly and it is a fast-paced and enjoyable story. Look out for the follow up coming out soon too.

Author reads it best!

A fun adventure romp based on Greek mythology, updated to a modern world. An enjoyable series akin to a certain wizard 😉 and my 10yr old son (who already had a fascination with Greek gods) loves it … however, I seems to have managed to find more time to listen than him as I moved ahead of him!! 😂 I love the silly uncomplicated story … perfect for dog walks and housework time! 👍🏻 Maz Evans really does bring the characters to life as well … great performance!
